I’ll give the Brewers one thing, they are consistent as hell when it come to playing the Twins. Note to self, do not buy interleague tickets–especially when they play the Twins. It’s games like tonight’s that makes Brewers fans sick to their stomach. With the loss combined and the Cardinals win, the Brewers have fallen 2 games back of the Cardinals in the race for the NL Central. It’s a wonder how they’re even in second, though, since they have been playing so incredibly bad.

And whodathunkit?! Turns out Dave Bush has a micro tear. No wonder he’s been so inconsistent since starting the season 3-0. The Brewers have made the move to place Dave Bush on the 15-DL and have called Mike Burns back up from AAA Nashville. The Brewers expect 2-3 weeks before Bush’s return, and it could be longer, but let’s hope not. Read here.

As if the Brewers weren’t in a hole already, the move just adds to the fact that the Brewers need to fill Manny Parra’s rotation spot. Mike Burns will get Bush’s start on Thursday, however they still have one roster spot to fix. It currently looks like Seth McClung will fill that spot Saturday. Read here. I’m kind of welcoming the shake up in the rotation. Did you know that only five pitchers, the opening day rotation, have started a game for the Brewers through 70 games?! that’s rare but also coming to an end.

One thing is for sure, if the Crew are going to have any hope keeping themselves in games, their pitching staff will need to get it into gear. Starting pitching continues to kill the Brewers of late. Jimmy Haggerty at the Bleacher Report writes on just this. Check it out.

Mick Stephenson at the Bleacher Report also thinks that maybe, just maybe, it’s time Brewers manager Ken Macha starts playing small ball to try to help tack on some runs and keep the Brewers hopes of winning two or three more games this season alive. See what he has to say.

And just in case you had not yet heard, Manny Parra took the mound last night in Albuquerque and pitched well, picking up a loss 1-0. Despite the loss, Parra pitched great for the second straight time for the Sounds. He gave up five hits and one run in the loss. Since being sent down, Parra has an ERA of 1.38 in 13.0 innings, giving up only two runs thus far. Read more here.

Doug Melvin made national headlines yesterday when he made it clear. Melvin will not trade top prospects Mat Gamel or Alcides Escobar as he traded Matt LaPorta last season. Check it out. He also forgot to mention the trade he’s keeping under wraps but trying to push through: Bill Hall for a 6-pack of Miller Lite!

A reader at brewcrewball.com asked a question that caught my eye, and I’d figure we could all wonder: Would you trade Prince Fielder for Matt Cain? Read here.

Helanair.com interviews Brewers’ 2009 first round pick Eric Arnett on playing baseball and now being one step closer to the majors. When asked what he wanted to do when he grew up Arnett said, “You say professional baseball player and they kind of laugh, but in the back of your mind you think, well that’s what I’m really going to do.” Read more.

Brewers beat write Adam McCalvy includes Eric Arnett in his notes last night.  Arnett will make his Helena Brewers debut tonight. According to his twitter feed, he’ll be wearing number 95, but has no plans on keeping that number forever. More here.

And in fun news, Mike Cameron will host his very own Bowl-A-Thon on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Pinstrikes Bowling in Glendale, Wis. The prices can be steep, so if you plan to attend, check the link first.
