Brett Favre: A Father Just Like Any Other
Brett Favre reminds me of my dad sometimes. My dad is 68 years old and continues to work, and has told me he will work until god takes his abilities away and he can work no more. He's missed just under two weeks of work in his 30+ years. Brett Favre is 40, and he still has the ability to go to work and perform at a level that is better than most at his position, and he's not ready to stop working.
He's retired twice and is thinking of coming back to work for the third time. My dad retired three years ago and that lasted all of two weeks. It doesn't matter what job you have, if you love what you do it is, always hard to leave. Brett has tried to leave twice, but the itch is never gone, and for a player like Brett the itch will never leave.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He's played with injuries on Sundays, he's played in snow, rain and heat. Nothing has stopped Favre from putting that number 4 jersey on and playing every Sunday for over 200 games in a row, and i'm not sure retirement is either. As fans we sometimes forget that the NFL, is a job to these players. It is a commitment that lasts over half the year, and it is a job where you are scrutinized by every move you make or do on and off the job field.
This job is a very lucrative job and it is a hard job to obtain. Only about 0.008% of high school football players will ever get the chance of playing this sport. Think about it, that is less than one tenth of a percent. Most guys don't get a chance to suit up once, but Favre has suited up and played in two decades without missing a game.
Tony Romo missed a couple games because of a hurt pinkie, Brett Favre played in games with a broken thumb. Many people call Favre a diva, but I don't know of any diva that has a streak of over 200 games in a row without missing a start. Diva's go to Cabo on their week off before their playoff game. Diva's don't go out on the field in below freezing temperatures with broken thumbs and play a full contact sport, and Diva's don't put their bodies on the line to come back and work.
Brett is part of that 0.008%, and rightfully so he is not ready to give that up and let it go. He doesn't need the money, he just wants to go to work, and just like any father that is not ready to leave the job yet, he will continue to not miss work this season.
