2010 NFL Mock Draft—Round One
Is it time already?
Not quite, but I figured what the hell, why not throw a few names out there and have some fun?
Keep in mind that there are Juniors that still have to declare next year. I figured there are usually around 12 Juniors in the First Round, so here we go. I'll give it a shot. These teams are in the correct order. If anything seems unclear, some teams have traded their picks in last year's draft. Also note I have no Cornerbacks in Round One because none are worthy at this point of going that high, but naturally some will. Oklahoma schools dominate the early round

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
DETROIT—Russell Okung, (OT) Oklahoma State—Detroit needs a Pass Blocker for Stafford. Look for Jeff Backus to move inside to Guard. Okung is athletic and in the mold over Joe Thomas. He's 6'5", 300 lbs, and still growing.
ST LOUIS—Sam Bradford, (QB) Oklahoma—Matt Bulger is on his way out. St Louis has other needs but they can't pass him up. Bradford has over 4700 yards passing with a 5-1 TD ratio. Doesn't have a great arm, but won't need one. Next Joe Montana?
KANSAS CITY—Jermaine Gresham, (TE) Oklahoma—They may go offensive line, but with two Second Round picks, they can address that issue then. Gresham is similar to Gonzalez, and may be the best receiving threat in this draft. He averaged almost 15 yards per catch which is unheard of in College Football for Tight Ends
SEATTLE—Trent Williams, (OT) Oklahoma—Seattle has a pathetic offense, but their main concern is keeping Hasselback standing. Sean Locklear and Walter Jones may only have one year left. Williams is 6'5, 300 lbs, and will be moving from right tackle to left tackle this year at Oklahoma.
CLEVELAND-Taylor Mays (S) USC- If he weren't a Safety he'd be the 1st overall pick. Safeties usually don't go high (Ed Reed went at the end of Round One). Outstanding player. At 6'3 ,225 with 4.45 speed there is little he can't do. May move to Weakside Linebacker at some point. Browns need a play maker in that secondary. Abram Elam is this years starter.
CINCINNATTI—Ndamokung Suh, (DT) Nebraska—6'4", 305 lbs. This guy is dominating. Suh led Nebraska in tackles, had eight sacks, 16 TFL, and a couple of interceptions. If the Tank Johnson situation gets stale, this guy can come in and help quickly. He and Peko would be a nice combo.
OAKLAND—Brian Bulaga, (OT) Iowa—6'6, 312. Will come out early. Excellent pass protector. Should replace Mario Henderson. Sorry Al, he can't run a 4.3.
JACKSONVILLE—Dez Bryant, (WR) Oklahoma State—6'1", and 210 lbs. with 4.58 speed. May be the best receiver in the country, and the Jaguars need one badly. Bryant had almost 1500 yards receiving and 19.0 yards per catch. Hopefully will not be the next Adarius Bowman or Dejuan Woods. Mike Walker is their present starter.
GREEN BAY—Jahvid Best, (RB) Cal—The most explosive player in the country. Runs a 4.22, and ran for over 1500 yards and led the nation in yards per carry. Packers need a speed guy to complement Ryan Grant. Only knock on Best is his size.
SAN FRANCISCO—Colt McCoy, (QB) Texas—6'3", 210 lbs. The thing that jumps out about him is his accuracy (76 percent) which broke the NCAA record. Sean Hill may be the worst QB in the league. McCoy could thrive in a West Coast scheme.
BUFFALO—Jonathan Dwyer, (RB) Georgia Tech—5'11", 230 lbs. Best pure RB in the country. With Lawrence Maroney facing criminal charges and no backup, the Bills would love to have this guy.
SEATTLE—Brandon Lafell, (WR) LSU—6'3", 210 lbs. Similar to Dwayne Bowe, but a notch below. Seattle needs receivers, and having two picks next year will really help.
WASHINGTON—Sergio Kindle, (LB) Texas—6'3", 255 lbs., with 4.57 speed. Best linebacker in this draft, and should easily beat out HB Blades. Kindle had 90 Tackles with 10 sacks and 13 Tfl.
NEW ORLEANS—Gerald McCoy, (DE) Oklahoma—6'5", 295 lbs.. Biggest steal of this draft. Outstanding explosive player. Should easily beat out Kendric Clancy. Has seven sacks at the defensive tackle spot.
HOUSTON—Legar Blount, (RB) Oregon—6'1", and 230 lbs. This is a reach, but Houston needs a big short yardage bulldozer to blend with the speedy Steve Slaton. Blount as a part time runner still broke the 1,000 yard mark.
SAN DIEGO—Carlos Dunlap, (DE) Florida—6'5", 290 lbs., and a perfect five technique. Had 10 sacks and 14 tackles for loss. Chargers are starting Ryan Bingham this year. Dunlap is a huge improvement.
JETS—Dezmon Briscoe, (WR) Kansas—6', 210 lbs., with 4.5 speed. Had a huge year for Kansas with 92 catches for over 1400 yards. Jets still need a No. 1 receiver.
CHICAGO—Eric Berry, (S) Tennessee—The best defensive back in the draft. Is undersized which may cause him to drop, but Chicago has four guys battling for that spot this year, and Berry is better than all of them. Great ball athlete with seven interceptions and many big hits. He's a Lou Delmas with better Ball Skills.
TAMPA BAY—George Selvie, (OLB) South Florida. This guy is awesome. Played hurt all year and was double and tripled teamed, but he was the most explosive pass rusher in the game. In the last two years he's had a combined 20 sacks and about 26 tackles for loss. He runs a 4.7. The Bucs plan to start a defensive back at OLB this year (Jermaine Phillips). After this pick, Phillips can go back to safety. Selvie is a local kid too.
DALLAS—Arrelious Benn, (WR)—at 6'2", 220 lbs. with good speed and big play ability, there is alot to like about this kid. He has one big drawback, though. Only three touchdowns, and started all year (67 catches). Crayton replaces Owens. This guy will replace Crayton.
PHILADELPHIA—Jerry Hughes, (OLB)—6'3", 255 lbs.. At TCU he was a monster who ranked in the top five in both sacks and tackles for loss. He should easily beat out Akeem Jordan who will start with Philly this year.
MINNESOTA—Terrance Cody, (DT) Alabama. A 6'3", 365 lbs. behemoth. Juco star who played Division 1AA for only one year. Why would Minnesota draft a huge tackle when they have two already? Because he's perfect for a three man rotation which will keep all three fresh so they can stuff the run and collapse the pocket even in the 4th quarter.
NEW ENGLAND—Rolando McClain, (LB) Alabama. this kid scares me. McClain is 6'3", 250 lbs., and is the top MLB in the draft. Among the leaders in tackles for loss. Bruschi will probably retire after this year.
ATLANTA—Brandon Spikes, (LB) Florida. Good size and speed but very overated. Poor Instincts. Still people have him going higher and Mike Peterson needs to be replaced next season. Can play inside or out.
MIAMI—C J Spillner, (RB) Clemson. Great all purpose runner. Explosive speed, and at 195 lbs., runs a 4.4. Miami needs a speed runner to alternate with Ronnie Brown. Spillner had a chance to go in Round One if he came out in last year's draft.
BALTIMORE—Golden Tate, (WR) Notre Dame—5'11", 190 lbs.. Finally, Baltimore takes a big play WR. The question is will it be a year too late? Tate switched to WR a few years ago and became a bomb threat. He had over 1,000 yards receiving and averaged 18.7 per catch. Home run threat.
INDIANAPOLIS—Sean Weatherspoon, (OLB) Missouri—6'1", 235 lbs.. Came on strong last year, making one big play after another. Over 150 tackles from the outside with 20 tackles behind the line. Similar to Pittsburgh's Lawrence Timmons. Perfect fit for their one gap system. Current starter at OLB-Clint Session
SAN FRANCISCO—Anthony Davis, (OT) Rutgers—6'6", 330 lbs. Most underrated OL in the draft. May rise. Solid all around tackle who can replace old Marvel Smith in a year. Smith has missed most of the past 2 seasons
GIANTS—Sean Lee, (ILB) Penn State—6'2", 236 lbs. Tremendous player who missed all last year with a torn ACL. If he recovers he'll be a steal. He could give Antonio Pierce a run for the money. In the great tradition of Giant linebackers.
TENNESSEE—Geno Atkins, (DT)—Florida. Undersized, but a poor man's Glenn Dorsey. Great one gap shooter. Improvement over current starter Tony Brown.
ARIZONA—Rob Gronkowski ,(TE) Arizona. He earns 18.8 yards per catch—sounds good for a 260 lbs. tight end, right? Need to improve the position with Leonard Pope as starter. He should beat him out one day one. Could be this year's Heath Miller.
PITTSBURGH—Ciron Black, (OT) LSU. At 6'3", 325 lbs., He is a powerful run blocker who will take the ROT job from Willie Colon (beaten too a pulp last year) If they decide on a LOT, they may want to consider Adam Ulatowski of Texas. No way Starks gets Franchised again.
