The interesting case of Gortat vs. Reebok

I need to get this straight, Reebok (for those who do not follow fashion they are a shoe company) has a contractual obligation with Orlando Magic big man Marcin Gortat who has been nationally exposed to NBA fans through out this year's playoffs.
The problem in this equation lies in the fact that Mr. Gortat has an Air Jordan Nike tatoo on the side of one of his legs. Now, Reebok has informed Gortat that he must cover up the tatoo with a sock or make up. Gortat in reponse, is choosing not to do so.
Fans did not really know who Gortat was until the playoffs, and in this article from Fanhouse Gortat suggests that if other players do not know his name, they know him as the big guy with the Jordan tatoo.

My thoughts on this situation defend the client. Gortat signed a contract when approached by Reebok to be a sponsor of their company. It is Reebok's responsibility to know exactly who their clients are. Not acknowledging a competitor's logo clearly painted on the leg of your client is ignorance on your part!
Of course if you are going to throw free shoes and a pay check at an athlete they are going to take it, no matter what was carved into their body. Gortat also has the right stance on things.
Now that this tatoo is out in the open, if Reebok chooses to revoke their contract with Gortat I am sure that Nike will be willing to match their offer. What is better then having your logo on the screen every time your client is thanks to their own money?
Reebok just looks out smarted here, and has the decision to make to live with their ignorance or move own and let Gortat sign with their competitor.
