Who Has The Better Team: Boston Or New York
As of the 2003 ALCS, the Red Sox and Yankees rivarly couldn't be any more intense. Now that the 2009 campagin has entered mid-June you can start to argue who has built the better squad.
First you can start with the pitching rotation. I believe, and believe that most people would agree, that the Sox definitely have the best rotation in baseball. Boston and New York's front end of the rotation could be a toss up with the likes of Beckett, Lester, and Dice-K vs C.C., Wang, and Burnett. But the back-end, that's where the Sox kill the Yankees. Wake and Penny, and oh yeah, Buchholz, Smoltz, and even Masterson. Sox win this one.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Now moving on to the bullpen, in recent years the Yankees have had a great bullpen ending with Rivera, but now as of late seeing Ramon Ramirez, Saito, Okajima, and Masterson all leading up to Papelbon, it's pretty impressive. Sox win this one to make it 2-0.
As the DH position, it is clear to say that the Yanks definitely kill Boston in this one. They can throw anyone of their OF's in and would put up better numbers than the slumping Ortiz. Yankees win this one to make the score 2-1.
At the catcher position, I think this is truly a toss up. Tek has the better defense and Posada has the better bat. Seeing how much of a difference Tek can make when he's behind the plate, I'll give him the edge. Sox lead the score 3-1.
As first base you got 2 big bats, Mark Teixeira and Kevin Youkilis. Both are All-Stars, but Tex edges Youk in the home run category, so I give the edge to New York. New York makes the score 3-2.
Next in the infield is second base. Pedrioa winning the 2008 MVP says enough, although Robie Cano is quite the player, but Dustin wins this one. That makes the score 4-2 Boston.
As SS, this shouldn't even be a decision, Jeter destroys any player that Francona wants to throw out there. Yanks are still trailing 4-3.
At third base you got one of the best players of our time, despite his use of steroids, A-Rod. He is definitely the better player, even though Lowell is the better locker room guy. Yanks tie it up 4-4.
Out in LF you got Jason Bay who is putting up some MVP like numbers this season. I don't care how much people used to say Johnny Damon looked like Jesus, Bay is still a better player. Sox regain the lead 5-4.
Now in CF, you got the speed Jacoby Ellsbury against the, I guess you can say, above average Melky Cabrera. Although Ellsbury has been a dissapoint at the lead-off position and being moved down to the bottom of the order, he does have speed, and speed kills. Jacoby wins this one to make the score 6-4 Boston.
Now the final outfield position, RF. The regularly hurt JD Drew and Nick Swisher. Only because that it is early in the season and that Drew really hasn't done much, (I believe he's the better player), so Swisher wins this one, although he's batting .256. Yanks cut the score to 6-5.
And here is the big question, what club has the better manager? Well considering he has 2 World Series wins and has 500+ wins as Sox manager, I say he's a tad bit better than Joe Torre, oh I'm sorry, Joe Girardi. Sox win 7-5.
Now this is just an evaluation on paper, and there are 162 games in the MLB season, the Boston Red Sox win this battle 7-5. Yes the Red Sox have won 7 of their first 7 games against the Yankees this year, and are both in and out of first place, but both have a load of All-Star caliber players in their clubs, this might be one of the best pennant racers this year with the Rays and Jays making things interesting too.
