NFL Update 6-5-09

Bryan BrackneyJun 5, 2009

Hey guys, it's Josh Dhani and here is the latest edition of the NFL Update. Enjoy!Wilson Gets a Deal Done: Gets a Five-Year, $39 Million Contract

The Arizona Cardinals have re-signed two-time Pro Bowl safety, Adrian Wilson, to a five-year, $39 million contract.

"The main point was we wanted to extend our relationship with a great football player," Cardinals general manager Rod Graves told NFL.com. "But I think the signing does indicate in many other ways the idea that you want to reward players who do things the right way, who are committed to excellence and who represent your organization exceptionally well."

Wilson is known to be a hard-hitter and has been a great asset towards the team. This deal will keep Wilson with the Cards until 2013.

"I can't put into words exactly how I feel right now," Wilson said. "Every time I step on the field at the new stadium, I look at all the names, the Ring of Honor and all that, and always say that one day I want my number up there, I want my number up there beside Aeneas (Williams), I want my number up there next to Pat (Tillman)."

Don't worry, Adrian, you will.

You will.

49ers Sign Staley to a Six-Year Contract

The San Francisco 49ers re-signed offensive lineman, Joe Staley, to a six-year contract that will leave him with San Fran until 2017. Staley was the 28th pick for the 49ers in the 2007 NFL Draft and hasn't let anyone down.

"I was thinking maybe if I played a solid year next year, they’d come to me, but they’ve obviously shown that they believe in me enough to get this deal done," Staley said. "I think that also shows what they are trying to do here is keep a lot of the core young players that they feel are building blocks for this franchise."

Good luck, Joe!

So that's the NFL Update. Enjoy your day and have a good Friday!
