A Giant Trade with Giant Possibilities
There is a buzz lately in the Bay Area about who the Giants can trade and what they can trade for, to add a bat or a couple bats to a powerless lineup.
We all know that the Giants need to make a move, and that Jonathon Sanchez will probably be the pitcher who is dealt in order to bring a bat to San Francisco.
The real question is, what can the Giants obtain for an arm like Sanchez? Well, I can tell you that many clubs are in need of pitching and need it if they want to make a serious playoff run.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Sanchez would be a great addition to any ball club in need of pitching and willing to give up a decent middle of the lineup hitter.
The Giants need someone that will help for years to come, and not someone they will lose to free agency at the end of the season. Here are my top five hitters who I believe the Giants could obtain for the arm of Jonathan Sanchez.
Ben Zobrist
An absolute stud out of Tampa Bay. Zobrist is hitting a strong .296 with 10 HR, 32 RBI, and slugging .644 in just 48 games.
In at least 12 of the 48, he appeared just as a pinch hitter. He has played almost every position this year and has only recently been an everyday starter with the injury to Iwamura.
The Giants can plug this kid in nearly any position and he will put some power and production into a lineup that is need of a boost.
Nick Markakis
When dealing with a player like Markakis, the Giants would know what they are going to get—a career .299 hitter with a little bit of pop and a decent glove in the outfield.
He could easily add 20-25 HR to this lineup and could replace Randy Winn in right field. No offense to Randy Winn, but he is one of the veterans the Giants should move at the end of this year.
The Orioles are in need of pitching and again Sanchez could easily be a number three in the Orioles pitching rotation.
Hunter Pence
Very similar to Markakis, Pence is a career .299 average, but is off to a good start hitting .339 this year with 7 HR.
The Astros are a team that are also in desperate need of some pitching. Sanchez could easily be a number two ,behind Oswalt, in the shaky Astros pitching staff. Pence would be a great two or five hitter in the Giants lineup.
Dan Uggla
Uggla isn't the greatest fielder and won't provide a high batting average, but what he does add is power. He could easily add 30 HR to the Giants lineup, and would make a great number five hitter.
The Giants could move Burris over to short, get Renteria out of dodge, and put Uggla at second. Uggla is also the type of player that could help other players like Lewis and Sandoval to see better pitches in an at bat.
Once again, Sanchez could add to the Marlins rotation with pitchers like Nolasco, Miller, and Anibal Sanchez having disappointing seasons thus far.
Prince Fielder
Why not? The Brewers are right in there for the NL Central, and what could help them more in that division than pitching?
The Giants might have to give up a little more than pitching like Sanchez with the addition of a first baseman like Ishikawa, or someone like Juan Uribe and a couple prospects.
Fielder would be a great addition to the Giants lineup, adding anywhere from 30-40 HR a season. He could be that big slugger the Giants have been looking for, and he is probably the most touchable slugger on the market.
Any of these bats would definitely help the Giants in their bid for the future. They are a team who needs to build around solid hitting because they definitely have great pitching, especially once Bumgarner arrives to add more potency to this pitching staff.
In order to build around great pitching, the Giants need to start moving out some veterans, who in the long run could be cancerous to the Giants' success.
Players like Molina, Winn, and Renteria are only taking valuable playing time away from young players. Molina and Renteria are both hitting below .250 and both are double play threats every time they step into the box with a man on first. Randy Winn isn't going to add much but average to your lineup.
Moving Randy Winn would allow someone like Schierholtz more playing time. It would also allow the Giants to bring back up John Bowker, who is tearing it up for AAA Fresno this season.
The Giants have a lot of options, but it will be exciting to see what moves are made in the next month or two. I feel that Giants need to make a move soon in order to add some pop to this lineup.
My bid is for Ben Zobrist who I feel has the most potential to be a star in San Francisco.
