Dirty Words: In Court with Barry Bonds and Don Imus

Ron JohnsonAug 16, 2007
IconIn an era where controversy roils the sports world quicker than mob bosses hit Tim Donaghy's condo, two men just don't know when to sit down and shut up.
If Barry Bonds and Don Imus are looking for people to sue, I'll be the frontrunner. I dare them both to come get me.
Get Over It, Barry

Reports coming out of San Francisco indicate that Barry Bonds has hired two local lawyers to begin filing lawsuits against members of the sports media for publishing false allegations about his steroid use.

It's believed that reporters, columnists, and editors are all potential targets of this supposed lawsuit. But here's a civics lesson, you drugged-up moron:

Freedom of speech allows people like us to say whatever we want about anything we choose. In all honesty, Bondsy, your constant whining and bitching is making me sick.

It's a cutthroat world  out there—if you want respect, you have to earn it. If you want people to stop questioning your integrity, then step up and take the test.

So your ego is bruised because everyone sees you as the fraud you are. Grow up. Someone is in prison because he's protecting your so-called "image." You're the Terrell Owens of baseball—except T.O. knows he needs to change. You, on the other hand, seem content to be the world's biggest crybaby. At least we know who wears the pants in the Bonds household.

Simply put, Barry: Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get the f@$% over it!

For months, the airwaves have been free from Don Imus.
And if Kia Vaughn has anything to say about, it'll stay that way.
After learning that Citadel Broadcasting and ABC Radio are looking to bring "Mr. Controversy" back to radio, Vaughn, a junior on the Rutgers basketball team, filed a lawsuit against Imus for defamation of character.
Thank goodness one strong, black woman isn't afraid to stand up where so many others have bent double.
We live in a world where we have to abide by a set of rules. Unfortunately, not everyone can handle it. The idea of Don Imus going back on the radio is as ridiculous as Sergio Garcia as an NBA referee.
Don—if ABC decides to bring you back, you should make an appearance on the Howard Stern show just so he can make fun of the guy with the goofy looking hair who looks like he got smacked with a shovel.
And on the brighter side, here are a few salutes to some worthy honorees:
Phil Rizzuto (1917-2007)
Condolences go out to the family of Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto, who died in his sleep on Monday. Rizzuto was a legendary shortstop and broadcaster for the New York Yankees, and had been the oldest living member of the Hall of Fame.
Scooter may be gone, but his legend lives on.
Bobby Cox
Though he says it isn't worth celebrating, Bobby Cox made history with his 132nd career ejection on Tuesday night, passing John McGraw for most all time. If nothing else, it's nice to see a new milestone that isn't tainted by steroids.

Lane Kiffin

JaMarcus Russell hasn't signed yet, but the Raiders got some good news when head coach Lane Kiffin was released from the hospital after a viral infection put him on the shelf earlier this week. Lane, get better, stay healthy...and tell your lazy, snotty quarterback to sign a contract already.
