These two talented teams will now match up in what could be a preview of a late-round match in next year's World Cup. Here is everything you need to know about the highly anticipated match.
Where: Estadio do Maracana, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
When: Sunday, June 30
Time: 6 p.m. ET
TV: ESPN (coverage starts at 5:30 p.m. ET)
Live Stream: ESPN3
Spain Player to Watch: Xavi
The reason Spain has been so successful over the years is the amount of talent in the midfield. Between Xavi, Cesc Fabregas, Andres Iniesta and others, the lineup cannot be matched in international competition.
These players know exactly how to control the ball for long periods at a time, giving the opposing team little chance to get scoring opportunities.
Xavi has been one of the best in the group with his strong defensive ability and his skills as an attacker. He can create chances for the forwards with his great passing, and it allows Spain to consistently get onto the scoreboard.
It is near impossible to take the veteran out of the match, but Brazil will need to slow down Xavi and company in order to pull off a win in this one.
Brazil Player to Watch: Neymar
Neymar has been the player to watch throughout the tournament. Most fans knew about the 21-year-old midfielder, although few had seen him play on a big stage until this championship.
However, he has been absolutely spectacular in four matches, scoring three goals with two assists. Virtually all of his production has been highlight-reel material, as he continues to show that he is one of the best young players in the sport.
While Brazil has plenty of talent on the roster, Spain must focus on where Neymar is at all times. He has the ability to change the match with a single play, so the opposing defense cannot let him out of its sight for a moment.
Prediction
Brazil has a lot of things going for it in this match. The squad has the momentum of four solid victories to give the young team confidence heading into one of the bigger contests some of the players have ever played.
Additionally, playing in front of the home crowd is certain to provide an even bigger boost.
However, Spain has become the best team in the world due to its consistency over a long period of time. Virtually every player on the roster has been a part of a great deal of team success and knows what it takes to win.
While Brazil might be nervous in this high-profile match, the Spanish squad will be calm and focused on earning yet another trophy.
The host team will also struggle in the match itself. Brazil likes to control possession and work toward goals methodically, but it will have a hard time getting the ball against Spain and its more experienced midfield.
This should be an excellent battle between two great teams, but Spain should come away with the victory.
Prediction: Spain 2, Brazil 1
