Rashad Evans vs. Dan Henderson Results: Power Ranking the Main-Card Fights

Riley KontekJun 8, 2018

UFC 161 came and went; that much is certain. However, it did not come and go without criticism, as the card on a whole was a dud.

From the prelims to the main card, boring fights were the highlight of the UFC's trip to Winnipeg. Whether it was Jake Shields and Tyron Woodley's hug fest or Ryan Jimmo's blanket attack against Igor Pokrajac, there were not many highlights.

On any note, here are the power rankings of every fight from the main card.

5. Ryan Jimmo vs. Igor Pokrajac

1 of 5

You know the phrase "blink and you would have missed it?" I wished I blinked for the 15 minutes Ryan Jimmo and Igor Pokrajac fought.

Pokrajac was taken down and held on the mat for a majority of the fight. After the fight, Jimmo even admitted that the fight was boring, and he apologized.

The universally panned fight was even noted as bad by Dana White at the press conference. All that said, it's easy to understand how bad this fight was.

At least he knows he may have put millions of people to sleep.

4. Alexis Davis vs. Rosi Sexton

2 of 5

The UFC is now three-for-four when it comes to exciting women's fights in the Octagon. Unfortunately, that fourth women's fight at UFC 161 was the boring one of the bunch.

Nothing much of note happened other than Rosi Sexton, a normal 125er, putting up a gusty performance against the much bigger Alexis Davis.

Much of this fight was a grind-'em-down, boring grappling match. Not much action happened that excited fans unless they like hugging matches.

Another decision, another snoozer.

3. Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans

3 of 5

I'll be honest with you: I don't think many people were expecting the Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans fight to be fireworks. It had all the makings of a dud.

Evans couldn't get the takedown. Henderson couldn't land the big right hand. The fans couldn't keep their eyes open any longer.

It was a forgettable main event of a forgettable trip to Winnipeg.

2. Stipe Miocic vs. Roy Nelson

4 of 5

Everyone slept on Stipe Miocic, and he reminded them why he was a coveted prospect not long ago.

The fight itself wasn't competitive, but at least it had some conviction. Miocic showed off his speed and technical ability, while Nelson never quit and continued to show off his granite chin.

Miocic has technical boxing and great athleticism, both great attributes to have in the heavyweight division. Miocic's speed alone gives him an advantage over many heavyweights in the UFC.

Miocic has now made himself a name to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division, and Nelson may have squandered away a much larger contract offer in the future.

1. Shawn Jordan vs. Pat Barry

5 of 5

Poor Pat Barry. The lovable heavyweight just cannot put two wins in a row together.

Billed as the better striker, Barry was beat at his own game when Shawn Jordan landed a nasty combination on his chin. It would be the only finish on the card, and the only fight that had fans on their feet.

Sad, I know.

Jordan now becomes a dark horse fighter in the heavyweight division, while Barry falls into the pits of near-nowhereness. At least the knockout from Jordan had some electricity on a dull card.
