US Open 2013 Tee Times: Complete Start Times for Day 1 Action
The top golfers the PGA has will battle for the right to hoist the U.S. Open title over their head come Sunday afternoon, and several top contenders will be playing alongside each other for the first two days.
The conditions at Merion Golf Club, host for the 113th U.S. Open, aren’t expected to be great. Merion, which has experienced a great deal of rain over the last week, should be soggy, which will likely mean low scores, according to Gary Mihoces of USA Today.
Keeping that in mind, many golfers will have to adjust the way they play in order to try to hit the green as often as possible. The greens will be soft, so don’t be surprised if a couple of golfers hand in their Day 1 scorecard with a lot of red on it. The second major of the year isn’t going to be won by someone who finishes Sunday at three-over.
But before we should talk about Sunday, we should focus on what’s to come on Thursday, which is currently scheduled to be the first round of the 2013 U.S. Open. When does your favorite golfer tee off and who is he paired with? If you don’t know, don’t panic. Below is the full schedule of tee times for every golfer at the U.S. Open.
Thursday’s play will tell us a lot about how the following three days could play out. It all starts with the first group, featuring Cliff Kresge, Roger Tambellini and Ryan Yip, who will tee off at Merion’s first hole at 6:45 a.m. ET. Let the fun begin.

Group to Watch
Group Players: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott
Group Information: Teeing off at first hole at 1:14 p.m. ET
Ever since the groupings for the first two rounds were announced, there’s one group in particular that’s grabbed the attention of nearly everyone in golf. That’s the 35th group, which features the top three golfers in the world, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott.
Woods has won the PGA’s second major of the year three times in his career, and McIlroy won the tournament back in 2011. Scott’s best finish came last year, when he finished in a tie for 15th place. This year, all three are expected to compete for the title, each receiving very good odds from Vegas to win at Merion Golf Club.
Even if it were just two of the three golf greats in the group, people would still be talking. But there’s no doubt that a lot of the focus is going to be on Tiger and Rory, who have developed a bit of a rivalry over the last few years. Scott told Golf.com, “I’m probably the third wheel this week as well.”
But Scott will be capturing a lot of attention because of his caddie, Steve Williams. Williams used to caddie for Woods, but the two split up in July 2011 after 12 years together. Woods said at the time, “it’s time for a change.” This week will be the second time that Scott and Woods have been paired together since Woods kicked Williams to the curb.
Rory will be watching the media circus from afar, looking to make up for a horrible performance last week at the Memorial Tournament. There, he shot six over and finished tied for 57th place. It was, by far, his worst performance of the season.
The group that includes Tiger, Rory and Scott is sure to be an exciting one. Will more drama ensue over the first two days? Will any of the three be paired together for the weekend too? Will any one of the three win the U.S. Open?
With many intriguing questions soon to be answered, it’s time to sit back, relax and watch this fantastic group that displays the world’s best golfers.
Prediction: Woods (1st), Scott (6th), McIlroy (7th)
