Belmont Stakes Odds: Updated Lines for Entire Field After Post Positions Draw
The 145th running of the Belmont Stakes will be held this Saturday, June 8, and several horses will have a prime opportunity to win the third leg of the Triple Crown—although there will not be a Triple Crown winner this year.
Orb took home the Kentucky Derby crown, while Oxbow was the winner at the Preakness. Both will be at the Belmont Stakes trying to win their second Triple Crown race of the year, and both are considered heavy favorites.
But will Orb or Oxbow come out victorious, or will there be three different Triple Crown race victors? Will it be one of the underdogs that finishes first among the competition, or will it be one of the horses with good to moderate odds heading into the race that wins it all?
Time will tell, but for now, let’s take a look at what we know for sure about the Belmont Stakes. Ahead lies all of the background you need, including each horse’s information, his or her current odds, his or her post position and which one you should consider betting on.

Horses to Watch
Unlimited Budget: No. 13, Currently 8-1
Unlimited Budget is one of the interesting stories this year at the Belmont Stakes, as she’s the lone filly and her jockey is also a female. She’s just the 23rd filly in the history of the race to enter, and only three have been victorious, according to Frank Angst of ESPN.
Some may question whether Unlimited Budget will able to defeat all of the horses, but as her owner, Mike Repole, told Angst, she’s much bigger than most of the other horses at the Belmont Stakes—which she certainly use an advantage.
Repole definitely has the right trainer in place to win it all. As Angst points out, Todd Pletcher is the only living trainer to win the Belmont Stakes with a filly.
While Unlimited Budget may not have the best odds to win the race—though they’re pretty good—she’ll be giving it everything that she’s got. Look for her to turn some heads and be toward the front of the pack by the time the race comes to a close.
Prediction: Show
Oxbow: No. 7, Currently 5-1
Coming off a victory at the Preakness, Oxbow will be looking to make it two in a row with another win at the Belmont Stakes. He has won three of his 11 career starts and is the most experienced horse of the other Belmont Stakes competitors.
As Eliza McGraw of the New York Times recently wrote, Oxbow’s has a great chance at winning it all because of his great pedigree. McGraw notes that Oxbow needs to take what his ancestors have done in the past and combine it in order to come out on top at the Belmont Stakes.
Oxbow and Orb will likely be two of the top finishers at the Belmont Stakes, but if I had to give the edge to one, I’d take Oxbow. While Orb was great at the Kentucky Derby, Oxbow was more impressive at the Preakness. Both will have targets on their backs entering the race, but Oxbow will be the one that prevails.
Prediction: Win
