NBA Rumors: Timberwolves' Offer for Bobcats No. 2 Pick Falls Way Short
The Minnesota Timberwolves are treating Charlotte Bobcats like the "rookie" in a fantasy draft, making the ridiculous trade. According to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, this is the trade they offered:
"Sources say Minnesota offered Derrick Williams to Charlotte in exchange for the #2 pick. Bobcats quickly rejected.

This kind of "offer" has you wondering whether there's even a morsel of respect for the Charlotte Bobcats. Yes, Derrick Williams is last year's second pick overall. He's also widely regarded as something of a bust.
He's not a complete bust, but he was a long way from the second best player from last year's class.
While such things are a matter of opinion, in the NBA's official "rookie ladder," which ranks the rookies every year, Williams didn't even crack the top 10.
Meanwhile, Charlotte has received a total of five legitimate offers.
"Source: Bobcats have five legit offers they're currently exploring to trade the second pick overall in tonight's NBA Draft.

The other offers, according Sam Ammick of SI.com, are vastly superior. Ammick reports:
"But the smart money is on a trade. The Bobcats continue to talk with Cleveland about swapping No. 4 for No. 2, with Charlotte surely pushing for as many assets as possible to go with it (the Cavs have the 24th, 33rd and 34th picks). Houston (Nos. 12, 16 and 18) and Portland (Nos. 6 and 11) are trying to land the No. 2 pick as well, according to sources.
"
Meanwhile, Oklahoma City is trying to get in the hunt and is reportedly offering James Harden, the NBA's sixth man of the year, for the No. 2 pick.
Offering Derrick Williams is akin to seeing everyone else offer various premium cuts of prime kobe beef and saying, "well, I've got this 70 percent hamburger."
This is worse than not even making an offer at all because this is the sort of thing that makes teams disinclined to want to trade with the Timberwolves in the future. There's not just the trade at stake; there's credibility as a trading partner. You really have to wonder what David Kahn was thinking.
