LeBron James: King James Needs to Play Like Michael Jordan for Heat to Win Title
LeBron James needs to forget about trying to get his Miami Heat teammates involved in the game for once in his life and start dominating games like Michael Jordan used to do for the Chicago Bulls.
It's the only chance the Heat have to win the 2012 NBA Finals.
James needs to develop the killer instinct MJ used to bring every single night when he dominated the league. He needs to start demanding the ball in the huddle and on the court. Until he does so, he's never going to win a championship.
Jordan was the most cutthroat player many have ever seen. He didn't care who or what was in his way, he was going to score no matter what. He didn't care about the feelings or egos of his teammates, all he cared about was winning, and he knew the best chance for him to win was to take the victories by force.
Far too often at the end of games we find James looking to set up his teammates. That can't be the norm anymore. James has to demand the opportunity to win the games for his team.
Jordan was the ultimate competitor. One of the things that made him so successful is that he wasn't afraid to lose. One of the best commercials I've ever seen (which you can watch on YouTube) is the one where he famously says:
"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
"
The time is now for James to take that kind of ownership of his team's success upon himself. He needs to have the confidence and pride in his own talents to make sure the Heat win. He surely has the game to get the job done.
So far in his career, James has relied on others to try and get to the promised land. It's time for him to start acting like the King that he says he is and start dominating the ball in the fourth quarters of games.
