Saul "Canelo" Alvarez

After his defeat of Shane Mosley, Saul Alvarez is sky-high right now. He won the fight of his career thus far in convincing fashion via unanimous decision, and he's being pegged by many as boxing's next bright young star.

With a 40-0-1 career record, Alvarez may only be 21 years old, but he has already garnered a lot of respect in the boxing world. Mosley was clearly over-matched in their bout, with Alvarez's power and speed becoming too much throughout the fight.

Alvarez's promoter, Richard Schaefer, has made it clear that he's gunning for James Kirkland, via the L.A. Times, but if that falls through Alvarez would be a front-runner in the Cotto sweepstakes.

Sergio Martinez

With a career record of 49-2-2, Sergio Martinez seems like another likely opponent for Cotto. He hasn't fought anyone of Cotto's caliber, but he's made quick work of most of his opponents.

He scored two knockdowns in the 11th round against Matthew Macklin on March 17, causing Macklin's corner to stop the fight before it reached the 12th.

Martinez's promoter, Lou DiBella, said the current middleweight champion will go after Cotto, especially if Chavez wins his June 16 fight against Andy Lee, via the Times. If Chavez wins that fight, DiBella notes that Martinez likely won't go after Chavez's WBC belt.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Last but not least, we have Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Chavez could very well be Cotto's next opponent. Chavez, at 26 years of age, is undefeated in 47 career fights. He's coming off a victory against Marco Antonio Rubio via unanimous decision in February.

Chavez has the record and the ability to give Cotto a good fight. If he beats Lee, you would have to think he'd go after Cotto.
