Lakers vs Clippers: Lake Show Remain Class of Los Angeles with Win over Clips

Timothy RappJun 7, 2018

We learned two things after the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night:

Watching Pau Gasol twice get Mozgoved by Blake Griffin is absolutely hilarious, and the Lakers are still the cream of the crop in terms of Los Angeles basketball.

Before we get into the latter, let's take another look at the former.

Amazing!

But while that was fun, the Lakers proved once again that the Clippers may be more fun to watch, but the Lakers remain the better team. For one thing, the Lakers hold a 2.5-game lead in the Pacific Division.

But they also hold a two-games-to-one lead in the season series after the win, giving them the tiebreaker should the teams finish with the same record.

And a bit of bragging rights, as well. Pau Gasol put it best in a tweet last evening:

"

Big win tonight against our neighbors! Great to see Andrew back, healthy and playing so well. I take wins over highlights anyday! #GoLakers

— Pau Gasol (@paugasol) April 5, 2012"

It's hard to argue with that. While the Clippers could yet be a scary team to face in the playoffs, they do sometimes seem like more sizzle than steak.

Meanwhile, with all of the trade talk, Andrew Bynum's benching, and the team's initial trouble adjusting to Mike Brown's system, the Lakers now seem like a legitimate contender in the West.

And what a long and winding road it's been.

Kobe Bryant is still a force, Andrew Bynum has shown glimpses of dominance, Gasol has been very good when not getting dunked on, and Ramon Sessions has been excellent since being acquired at the trade deadline.

They may not beat the Oklahoma City Thunder—hell, nobody might be able to beat the Thunder in a seven-game series this year—but they'll certainly give them a run for their money if the two teams meet.

The Clippers may be fun, but the Lakers once again proved that they are the superior Los Angeles team.

And that was the highlight of the night for the Lakers.

Hit me up on Twitter—my tweets will remain Linsane in tribute.
