5 Teams That Should Desperately Pursue Tim Tebow
With Peyton Manning choosing to sign with the Denver Broncos, this leaves everybody's favorite (or most hated) quarterback Tim Tebow as the odd-man out.
The Broncos are reportedly shopping Tebow around now as we all sit and wait to see what God's plan has for No. 15.
Tebow has some undeniably valuable characteristics and qualities about him. On the field, he's ridiculously clutch in the fourth quarter, and he's still young enough to develop his arm. Off the field, he's going to provide leadership qualities that no other human being can bring to the forefront. He'll also sell some tickets.
For these reasons, Tebow should be highly sought-after now that he's available.
After all, what guy doesn't want the cute goody-two-shoes girl in the end?
Kansas City Chiefs
1 of 5The Kansas City Chiefs have Matt Cassel has their starter, but let's face it, they're light years away from a Super Bowl.
Cassel was injured last season and at times was inconsistent. He could still be the starter, but Tebow could be a valuable backup for the team.
The Chiefs will also be able to run some plays with Tebow, whose size will be a huge advantage for the team.
If traded to the Chiefs, Tebow would also stay in the AFC West, where he's already familiar with the opponents. He'll also have a chance to get back at the Broncos, the team that gave up on him.
Finally, his presence will drum up an unbelievable amount of interest in the Chiefs, and it'll put the football team back on America's map temporarily.
Jacksonville Jaguars
2 of 5This seemed like an awesome destination for Tim Tebow at first, but they already signed quarterback Chad Henne to a contract.
Henne will be competing with Blaine Gabbert for the starting job, but why not throw in Tebow in the mix?
Tebow spent his collegiate career at the University of Florida, and he's a hero in those parts. A return to Florida would bring excitement back to Jacksonville and put some butts into those empty green seats we see every week during Jaguars' home games.
The team would love to have some mania surrounding the area, so that they could become viable again. Nobody cares about the Jaguars, not even in Jacksonville.
Also, the team has a superstar running back in Maurice Jones-Drew. It just seems like a place where the option might possibly work because of how the offense is so run-oriented.
Financially and business-wise, starting Tebow would be the best decision for the Jaguars. It might even be the reason why the team could stay in Jacksonville.
It also will work on the field because of the Jags' running system.
San Francisco 49ers
3 of 5Assuming Alex Smith leaves San Francisco, the 49ers will be left without a quarterback.
A few months removed from an NFC Championship appearance, this storied franchise will be back to square one with Colin Kaepernick slated to be the No. 1 guy.
This does not bode well for a team that was one field goal away from a Super Bowl.
So why not gamble on Tim Tebow?
Playing for the 49ers would be like playing on a more talented version of last year's Broncos team. They're one of the best in the league defensively and can run up the gut with Frank Gore.
Also, he'd be with one of the best and most underrated coaches in the league in Jim Harbaugh. If it's one thing that Harbaugh does well, it's elevating mediocrity. Just look what he did for Alex Smith last season. Smith was regarded as one of the biggest NFL draft busts after being selected No. 1 overall, but last year, he came out and had a fantastic season statistically, only throwing five interceptions.
If Tebow won eight games in Denver with that team, there is no doubt he can win 10 with San Francisco. Their defense is just too stingy, and the coaching staff is elite.
The culture of San Francisco might be a little crazy for the pious Tebow, but when the compensation for living in San Francisco is winning football games, it might just work.
Cleveland Browns
4 of 5Cleveland.
When we think of this city, an image of murky clouds is conjured up in our heads.
Tim Tebow can push those clouds away and bring in some sun if he gets traded to the Cleveland Browns.
He'd be the first high-profile athlete since LeBron James to play for the city.
No, they probably won't win much, because the team has insurmountable deficiencies in a brutal division. But that being said, Tebow's presence will create a buzz, and it's the only team from the other three mentioned thus far where he can have a starting spot.
Furthermore, Cleveland's economy would be based on Tim Tebow. He'd revitalize a city spiritually and financially, and it would give them the confidence to thrive.
Allen Wranglers (IFL)
5 of 5The Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League were successful in recruiting Terrell Owens.
Next step: Tim Tebow.
I can see it now:
"Tebow steps back, sees Owens wide open. He fires a bullet caught by Owens at the 20, to the 10, to the end zone! Touchdown Wranglers! And they go undefeated for the second consecutive season!"
A few months later, reports will surface about Owens complaining that he wasn't getting enough looks on the field and the duo will come to an unfortunate separation.
