Why Derrick Rose Should Stop Complaining and Focus on Winning

Matt ShetlerJun 7, 2018

Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls are rolling.

Last night's 104-99 victory over the visiting New York Knicks improved the Bulls to an NBA best 35-9 on the season, winners of nine of their past 10 games.

Individually, the reigning MVP is having another outstanding season, averaging 22.8 points and 8.0 assists per game. All seems well with Rose and the Bulls as they head into Wednesday night's must-see tilt against the Miami Heat.

Not exactly.

Despite the Bulls success, Rose isn't the least bit happy. That mostly has to do with not getting the respect he feels he deserves from the officials.

Rose expressed his displeasure and frustration following the game as ESPN's SportsCenter tweeted

"

"I've gotta be the only superstar in the league that's going through what I'm going through right now," --Derrick Rose on not getting calls

— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter)"

Rose has a legitimate concern, but he should stop the complaining and focus on nothing but bringing another championship to Chicago.

As for his beef, ESPN confirmed that Rose isn't getting many calls. Rose ranks 36th in the NBA among fouls drawn per 48 minutes. With the way he attacks the rim, you would figure that number would be much higher.

While there's no doubt Rose has a beef, no one wants to hear him complaining about getting calls.

Rose is a different type of superstar.

He's the only legitimate superstar in the game not out there whining and begging for another superstar to play with.

He saves that for the LeBron James' and Dwight Howard's of the world.

That's a big reason people respect Rose.  He let's his play do the talking for him and allows wins and losses to be his measuring stick.

It's not about stats, it's about winning.

Rose doesn't want to enter the world of constant complaining like many of the other superstars in the league. He's not a prima donna and is too good to ever be viewed as one.

But the more complaining one does, the worse they look in the public eye.

Look how the public perception of Howard has changed in a few months. Sure there are different circumstances involved, but the end result looks like a superstar crying and complaining.

Rose is business-like and takes care of business on the floor. He doesn't need to fight his battles in the media. He should quit talking about it right now and just stay focused on winning.

He doesn't want to travel down that road. It's not his style.
