Kobe Bryant Takes Another Shot at Lakers Front Office for Passing on Jeremy Lin

Ryan RudnanskyFeb 28, 2012

No use sweeping it under the rug anymore—Kobe Bryant is undoubtedly upset with Los Angeles Lakers management.

He was confused when the Lakers traded Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks. He was bothered when they did virtually nothing to address their point guard and small forward situations in the offseason.

And now he's questioning their decision making after the Lakers passed up on Jeremy Lin not once, but twice.

Bryant had this to say after the All-Star Game, via the New York Post:

"

The biggest thing to me is how everybody missed it. They all would be fired if I was owning a team. I hear this stuff, "It came out of nowhere." I think it’s a load of [garbage]. You can’t play that well and just come out of nowhere. There has to be something there and everybody missed it. So heads would roll [if I was owner].

"

The Lakers had two chances to nab Lin in 2010, but the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors got to him first.

There's no doubt that Bryant is envisioning the Lakers with Lin instead of Derek Fisher and Steve Blake, especially after Lin erupted for 38 points against the Lakers on Feb. 10.

The New York Knicks have risen dramatically since Lin took over. They were 8-15 before he exploded on Feb. 4 against the New Jersey Nets. Now they're 17-18 and are seventh in the Eastern Conference standings.

Imagine the Lakers with Lin. Sure, they still wouldn't be the front runners in the Western Conference, but they would surely have a better chance of contending for a title. Fisher is on his last legs, and Blake isn't a starting point guard.

Instead, the Lakers must choose from "standouts" like Gilbert Arenas, Ramon Sessions and Jonny Flynn or trade one of their stars for a top point guard.

Bryant has reason to be upset, and the Lakers owe it to him to address his concerns before the trade deadline.
