Jeremy Lin ESPN Headline: Fans Must Move on After Lin Accepted Network's Apology

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Jeremy Lin is over the offensive headline posted by ESPN this past weekend, which means everybody else needs to move on as well.

The New York Knicks point guard essentially told the New York Daily News that he accepted the apology and is moving on.

"They've apologized and so from my end, I don't care anymore," Lin said. "You have to learn to forgive, and I don't even think that was intentional."

Race has been a hot issue since Lin's emergence as a star for the Knicks. ESPN isn't the only media outlet to be offensive, but the Worldwide Leader did act quickly, handling the unfortunate situation very well.

ESPN fired Anthony Federico for posting the headline, and the 28-year-old said he was sorry for what he did.

Now that all the apologies have been said, it's time to look past this incident and continue focusing on basketball.

What Lin is doing in New York is very remarkable, and the story will only continue to heat up. The return of Carmelo Anthony on Monday night saw the Knicks fall to the New Jersey Nets

However, in time, Carmelo and Lin will gain better chemistry, and the Knicks will keep performing at a high level.

Since this is a sport that we all love so much, there is no need to focus on the bad, but rather put all the attention toward the good that is occurring.

All the talk of Lin has seen TV ratings boost for the NBA, which is amazing. In this lockout-shortened season, for there to be so much hype constantly building up, it's truly fantastic for the sport. Plus, the discussions are only going to keep getting bigger whether or not Lin succeeds this rest of the season.

Lin has given fans something to talk about extensively. For that, we should be grateful.

If not for him, there would be constant bashing (or loving, depending on where you stand) of LeBron James and the Miami Heat, as well as more focus on the abundance of trade rumors that happen every day.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, because the other stories around the NBA are mentioned. However, it's nice to see a guy whom nobody wanted thrive on such a big stage.

Thanks to Lin, there is a positive story brewing the mecca of the basketball world. As the season progresses, it's going to be very fun to watch everything unfold.

Yes, the "Chink in the Armor" headline by ESPN was wrong and terrible on all accounts, but what's done is done. There is no need to hang in the past and focus on the negatives, because that will get you nowhere in life.

It's time to forgive and forget. If Lin is over it, there's no need for anyone else to get worked up about the insensitive headline.
