Randy Moss' Return to the NFL Should Take Him to the New York Jets

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

Now that Randy Moss has told the world that he wants to return to the NFL next season, it is time to look at teams that could be interested in the wide receiver.

One of the most intriguing options out there for him are the New York Jets.

Rex Ryan's team has a lot of problems, so what is the problem with adding one more headache to the mix?

According to Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports, the Jets and Philadelphia Eagles are curious about bringing Moss on board next season.

"

In addition, according to a source close to Moss, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets are at least curious and the San Francisco 49ers could look to fill a hole if they let go of Josh Morgan in free agency. A source with one of those teams conveyed via text it would be “intriguing” to see what Moss has left in the tank after a year away from the game.

If the Jets want to keep Mark Sanchez, they are going to have to surround him with as much talent on the outside as they can.

Sanchez is making nice with Santonio Holmes, asking the receiver to be his Valentine on Twitter, Plaxico Burress had moments where he looked like his old self, but they were too few and far between.

After those two and Dustin Keller, there is no one on the Jets' roster last year that opposing teams had to game plan for. Burress and Holmes were so inconsistent that the offense was never able to take off.

Moss has a lot of baggage, there is no denying that.

He is a ticking time bomb that can explode at any moment, but before you get there he can get you 10 touchdowns and over 1,000 yards.

Unlike most players, a long layoff won't hurt him because he gets by on natural ability rather than hard work. A year off can recharge his batteries, get him focused on the game a little bit more and make some team look smart for signing him to a cheap one-year contract.

The Jets are going to do whatever they have to in order to keep up with the Giants in New York. They have fallen far behind, with Big Blue winning their second Super Bowl in four years.

Moss may not be the missing piece the team needs, but he can fill a big hole on the offensive side of the ball.
