Tennessee Titans: Loaded Home Schedule in 2012 Includes New England Patriots

Chad MintonFeb 9, 2012

You couldn't ask for a more star-studded home schedule if you're a Tennessee Titans season ticket holder.

Teams now have all of their opponents for next season, but dates have still not been determined.

The Titans have a loaded home schedule, and with that comes an extraordinary challenge to make the playoffs in Mike Munchak's second season as head coach.

The two biggest teams that jump off the page are the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers aren't as big of a surprise due to the fact that this will mark the fifth straight season the two teams will meet, with the Steelers having won three straight.

However, the Patriots haven't come to Nashville since 2006, when they eliminated the Titans from playoff contention after making a historical surge down the stretch.

It will be interesting to see at what point in the season the Titans get the Patriots.

The intrigue of the Titans' home schedule doesn't stop with those two teams. The Titans will also get Rex Ryan's New York Jets, Jay Cutler will return home to Nashville with the Chicago Bears and a couple ex-Titans will pay their first visits back to LP Field with the Detroit Lions.

Are those enough storylines for you?

Now that the Titans will get a full offseason of preparation, it should mean that this predominantly young team will make a huge improvement from last season.

Quite frankly, they'll have to if they want to survive this brutal schedule.

It's very possible that Jake Locker could win the starting quarterback job over the aging Matt Hasselbeck during training camp.

Kenny Britt should hopefully stay healthy for a full season, and Chris Johnson should come into training camp more prepared.

The Titans didn't get one nationally-televised game in 2011, but that should change this season with all of these intriguing opponents.

However, the trade-off is that the Titans will have to play much better if they hope to improve on their 9-7 record in 2011.

There won't be nearly as much room for error as there was in 2011, but if they survive it could end up being a season to remember in Music City.
