NBA Rumors: Rise of Jeremy Lin Means Knicks Don't Need Jonny Flynn
The New York Knicks have found a new rising star in Jeremy Lin, which means they don't need to pursue Jonny Flynn of the Houston Rockets.
Chris Broussard of ESPN tweeted on Monday that the Knicks inquired about Flynn, but it didn't sound too serious.
New York was just keeping it's options open, hoping to find good players on the market. With the way Lin has been stepping his game up, now the Knicks only need to focus on a couple things: Getting healthy and winning more games.
With Baron Davis struggling to return from injury, as well as Carmelo Anthony's groin issues, the Knicks have to fight through the health problems and do enough to get to the postseason. Once they get there, they're talented enough to get hot and make a deep run.
Davis can rest easy and wait until he's 100 percent healthy because of Lin. In his past two games, the young point guard from Harvard scored an average of 26.5 points and 7.5 assists.
Lin is taking control of the offense while others are hurt and that is why the Knicks don't need to try to bring anyone else in.
The Knicks have a good thing going right now and they don't need to mess it up. Sure, Lin is likely to hit a wall at some point, but we've seen what he is capable of, which is good news for New York.
Since the Knicks are only one game out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference, there is no need for any panic. New York has the talent to get through their recent woes and over the course of the next couple of months the Knicks should start rising.
Even though it would be nice to have Flynn, the Rockets may want Lin since everyone has seen him blow up in recent games.
New York doesn't need to part ways with anyone at this moment, as the focus should be on winning with what the Knicks already have.
On Wednesday night, Lin will get another chance to keep performing at a high level. When he doesn't disappoint, it will be further proof that the Knicks need to hold steady with their roster and wait for the return of their big stars to make a strong push in the standings.
