Super Bowl 2012: A Photo Guide to Indy's Super Bowl Village
With less than a week before the much anticipated Super Bowl rematch between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots, downtown Indianapolis is playing host to the Super Bowl Village. Organized by the Super Bowl XLVI host committee, the village opened on Jan. 27th and will continue to operate leading up to the big game.
Fans will be able to experience countless different events as Indianapolis tries to prove that it is one of the most exciting and hospitable cities in the country.
The Zip-Line
1 of 12One of the main attractions at the Super Bowl Village will be the 800-foot zip-line running down Capital Avenue which begins at nearly 100 feet in the air. Riders will be able to experience quite a view of the scene below.
You have to give it up to the Super Bowl XLVI host committee for this one by going all out with a zip-line.
An 800-foot zip-line nonetheless.
Huge Roman Numerals
2 of 12Two blocks east of the zip-line are the 30-foot tall-Roman numerals. The numerals were in Arizona the last time these two teams met in the Super Bowl in 2008 and are located on Meridian Street.
Live Performances
3 of 12Fans have been flooding in since the opening of the village to see live performances from Bret Michaels, Patti LaBelle and Jennie DeVoe. Here fans line up to see DJ Pauly D from MTV 's Jersey Shore.
The NFL Experience
4 of 12Another part of the three-block-long event is the NFL Experience. At similar events in the past, adults and children alike have had the opportunity to kick field goals, run NFL drills and dress in actual size pads to really experience the NFL as they never had before.
Super Dash
5 of 12The Super Bowl host committee has decided to go a little green with this next installment. Fans will have the opportunity to run on giant hamster wheels in a friendly competition designed to create some energy as well.
IndyCars Too?
6 of 12Thousand of fans gather round to see IndyCars designed for each NFL team. Not too sure what they do with them after this but they're still pretty cool.
Tebowing
7 of 12Fans get to peruse a recreation of an NFL locker room. And to think I thought I saw the end of Tebowing this season.
Ice Sculptures
8 of 12Fans will be dazzled by live ice sculpting performances by cast members of Food Network's Ice Brigade.
Eli Manning And...
9 of 12A massive poster of Eli Manning and...Jerod Mayo. It's hard to believe that it's not Tom Brady up there with Eli but I guess the committee had other places to market him.
The Kinect NFL Play 60 FanDome
10 of 12This baby right here is the Kinect NFL Play 60 FanDome. Essentially you are surrounded by Xbox 3602, so you are given a completely immersed experience of full-body, motion detected gaming.
If you thought your brand new 3D TV was any cool, this will put it to shame.
The Lombardi Trophy
11 of 12If that isn't the biggest Lombardi Trophy you have ever seen, then you must be having some crazy dreams of your team winning the Super Bowl.
Lucas Oil Stadium
12 of 12It looks more like a warehouse than a football stadium, right? That is the impressive Lucas Oil Stadium, the site of Super Bowl XLVI. Did you almost forget that the New York Giants and New England Patriots will actually play a game here on February 5th?
