Odds Peyton Manning Starts for These 9 Interested Teams in 2012
Peyton Manning talks, people listen.
Jim Irsay talks, people listen.
The combined comments of the both star player and owner of the Indianapolis Colts proves things aren't always peachy in the NFL 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
And even in the joint statement making peace with each other and stating they are "on the same page" with the future of this franchise is anything but level headed.
The Colts paid their franchise player $26 million this past season to sit on the bench and look like a figurehead. But the odds on the team paying Manning $28 million to possibly do the same thing next season as the Colts bring in Andrew Luck may be too much of a burden on the team.
There are teams who have expressed interest in Manning, with Miami, Arizona and the New York Jets being the most vocal in their desire to find a better solution to their passing offenses.
But there could be others, the type that needs a change at the top and those who may surprise you.
But if you ask yourself: Would you want Peyton Manning at 75 percent of his former self or would you want your current quarterback? Maybe then the choice becomes a little clearer.
Arizona Cardinals
1 of 9Kevin Kolb could not stay healthy this past season, and John Skelton played admirably, but does not seem like the long-term answer.
Oh, what Peyton could do with Larry Fitzgerald, who is better than Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne.
The Cardinals have shown some interest in Manning, according to SBNation.com.
Baltimore Ravens
2 of 9This one may come as a shock, but here is the idea behind it.
So much was made this season about inconsistent play by Joe Flacco. Does Manning become the missing piece to getting another title in Baltimore?
The receivers in the team are good as a whole, and Torrey Smith is a star in the making. While the running game (Ray Rice) is solid, the defense is as good as ever.
It's just an idea, but it would never materialize.
Cleveland Browns
3 of 9Because of the problems with the Browns offense, any quarterback that has experience and will become available will be attractive to Cleveland.
It is more likely that the Browns will hope for a quarterback like Jason Campbell or Alex Smith, keep the fourth pick in the draft and hope the team gets a shot at Robert Griffin III.
Manning would be great for marketing and fan support, but this is a marriage that would not work.
Dallas Cowboys
4 of 9I see this happening for a number of reasons.
First, it is Jerry Jones, and he wants to light a fire under Tony Romo. Second, he could trade Romo to a team on the rise (New York Jets, Miami, Cleveland) and prove a point. Third, he is Jerry Jones and does not need a reason to do something like this.
Whatever the reason, Romo had a good season, but he still is not a "star" in this league.
And Manning in Dallas is just the right place to prove he can still sling it all over the field.
Indianapolis Colts
5 of 9The marriage can still be saved. But Manning must learn he is not the King of the Palace anymore.
Yes, Manning helped put Indianapolis on the map. Yes, he is the most prolific passer of the past decade.
But he is 36 years old and injured.
If Manning is to stay put, he must realize he is a backup and must help Andrew Luck mature.
Jacksonville Jaguars
6 of 9Do you want a shadow of Peyton Manning or the idea of Blaine Gabbert looking like a deer in the woods?
Those two questions alone should be enough to prove that half of a Hall of Famer is better than the second-year player you have behind center.
If you cannot beat Manning as the Jaguars can't, then why not sign him to join you? And in free agency, why not bring along Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon?
Jacksonville would definitely have something to cheer about.
Miami Dolphins
7 of 9According to the Palm Beach Post, Peyton's Place could be on South Beach.
There are many reasons why this makes sense and no sense at all.
Brandon Marshall, Reggie Bush, Daniel Thomas and Jake Long are good pieces to a building puzzle, and Manning guiding the ship would make progress and sell tickets.
But with new coach Joe Philbin in place, a younger passer with more mobility (Matt Flynn) makes more sense.
Still, if the Dolphins are willing, who knows?
New York Jets
8 of 9A story on ESPN.com states the Jets—even after naming Mark Sanchez the starter for the 2012 season—could be interesting in their long-time rival.
It seems odd to think of Manning in anything other than white and blue, but could green be the color Manning sees in 2012?
Green as in Jets green and green as in MONEY?
It makes sense in that the incumbent starter Mark Sanchez regressed this past season and the Jets internally may have imploded.
Manning could right the ship and finally get Rex Ryan and the team over the hump and past the AFC title game.
Washington Redskins
9 of 9Just like Jerry Jones, Daniel Snyder will be heavily involved in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes.
In an article written on SBNation.com, Kyle Shanahan, the Redskins offensive coordinator, said he was not concerned about Manning's age and tweeted that "If he's healthy, age is not an issue." #Redskins
With the myriad of issues on the Redskins offensive side of the ball, Manning would be a welcome addition, no matter what his age is when or if he were to take a snap from center in Washington D.C.
