Coco Crisp: Trade Over Bench
When asked if he would like to play somewhere else if he didn’t earn the starting center field job for the Boston Red Sox this year, Coco Crisp responded, “Honestly, I think so because I want to play, I wouldn’t be happy sitting on the bench”.
Really?
Wow, a baseball player who wants to play. I thought all the piners in Major League Baseball were very content with only participating when they needed to bat for a pitcher, or if the team’s second baseman came down with a mean case of Exploding Face Syndrome (it’s very serious).

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Are you telling me that Matt Treanor wants to catch more than 55 games this year for the Florida Marlins? I don’t believe it. Just because these guys have been the star of every team they’ve ever been on, playing every inning, doesn’t mean they like it. Maybe Cal Ripken Jr. wanted to be a pillow fluffer at the Comfort Suites, a very respectable profession, instead of starting every game for the Orioles for 16 years.
Finally! Someone who wants to play the game they are paid to play. For those of you on other teams that would like to play more, this is clearly the route to take.
You thought sitting on the bench, supporting your teammates, and working hard was the way to go about it? Next time try expressing your concerns with ESPN, that’ll get things done.
P.S. - Another option might be to bat above the fatty .268 that Crisp posted last year along with a .182 in the postseason.
