Toronto Raptors vs. Boston Celtics: Rajon Rondo Hurts Wrist in Celtics Win
The Boston Celtics finally ended their five-game losing streak, beating the Toronto Raptors 96-73.
But, the win didn't come without a cost.
After leading the Celtics to an early lead with 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting through the first three quarters, Rajon Rondo was hit by Linas Kleiza on a flagrant foul. Rondo landed awkwardly and later left the game with a sore wrist.
This injury is nothing like his dislocated elbow in the Eastern Conference semifinals last year, but it also doesn't necessarily bode well for the Celtics.
It was evident in the beginning of this game that Rondo runs this team and when he is on, the whole team plays better.
He pushed the tempo early and got the Raptors in foul trouble.
Part of the reason the Celtics could finish out the game without him was because he had worked to give such a large lead.
Hopefully, this injury will not sideline him long because the Celtics, at only 5-8, need him desperately if they want to continue winning.
Rondo is a warrior, though, and I have no doubt that he will be back for Friday's game against the Phoenix Suns.
He played through pain for a large portion of last year, and he may need to do it again.
Think about it this way, if a dislocated elbow couldn't keep him from playing, I seriously doubt that a sore wrist will, even if he isn't 100 percent by Friday.
And a partially healthy Rondo is a whole lot better than a lot of other point guards in the league, and especially considering that his backup, Keyon Dooling, is still out with a knee injury.
