New York Knicks: Each Player's Most Impressive Performance of the Season
Even though the Knicks have struggled so far this season and have started with a 6-7 record, there have still been many memorable individual performances.
Carmelo Anthony is third in the NBA in scoring with 26.1 ppg. He has already put up 30+ points five times this season.
Amar’e is also playing well, averaging just under 18 ppg. Tyson Chandler has come in and brought the defense and rebounding the Knicks hoped he would in some games, averaging very close to a double-double with 10.1 ppg and 8.9 rpg.
Many other Knicks players have played significant minutes and contributed in a variety of ways as well. Here is each Knicks player’s most impressive game so far this season.
Carmelo Anthony
1 of 9Vs. Celtics, Dec. 25
PTS: 37
REB: 8
AST: 3
BLK: 1
STL: 2
Carmelo Anthony shot 10-17 in the Knicks' first game of the season to help them earn the victory over the rival Boston Celtics. When the Knicks were trailing going into the fourth quarter, Carmelo completely took over the game and scored 17 points. In this game, Carmelo hit a season-high four three-pointers.
Amar'e Stoudemire
2 of 9Vs. Bobcats, Jan. 4
PTS: 25
REB: 12
AST: 0
BLK: 0
STL: 1
This was Amar’e's best game of the season, even though it was his first game back from an ankle injury. In this game, he had success shooting the ball as well as rebounding. Unfortunately the Knicks lost this game, but they won't lose too many games when Amar’e is shooting 53 percent from the field and grabbing 10+ rebounds.
Tyson Chandler
3 of 9Vs. Bobcats, Jan. 9
PTS: 20
REB: 13
AST: 1
BLK: 3
STL: 3
Tyson Chandler played one of the best games of his career in this game versus the Bobcats, who don’t really have a true center. He was all over the place on both ends of the floor. He was grabbing offensive and defensive rebounds and forced six turnovers off of his three blocks and three steals.
Iman Shumpert
4 of 9@ Wizards, Jan. 6
PTS: 10
REB: 3
AST: 7
BLK: 1
STL: 5
This wasn’t Shumpert’s best scoring game of the season, but it was still his most impressive game overall because of his ball distribution and defense. In this win over the Wizards, Shumpert set season highs in both assists and steals.
Landry Fields
5 of 9@ Kings, Dec. 31
PTS: 21
REB: 5
AST: 1
BLK: 1
STL: 1
Landry Fields has really struggled since Carmelo Anthony joined the Knicks. He is very passive on the court and is only averaging 6.8 field goal attempts per game, even in the Knicks up-tempo offense. This was the only game this season where Fields has taken over 10 shots and he had his best game because of it.
Toney Douglas
6 of 9@ Kings, Dec. 31
PTS: 17
REB: 2
AST: 8
BLK: 0
STL: 2
This was Toney’s best outside shooting game of the season. It’s the only game this season that he shot over 50 percent from three (4-6). Douglas recorded his season high in assists this game as well.
Josh Harrellson
7 of 9@ Kings, Dec. 31
PTS: 14
REB: 12
AST: 0
BLK: 0
STL: 1
When Amar’e Stoudemire got injured, Harrellson stepped in to make his first career start. This was also the rookie’s best game of the season so far, as he recorded the only double-double of his career.
Bill Walker
8 of 9@ Kings, Dec. 31
PTS: 11
REB: 4
AST: 6
BLK: 0
STL: 0
This was Walker’s best all-around game this season. Usually when he comes off the bench, he is just looking to hit a three or make a highlight reel dunk. This game, however, Walker was looking to contribute in more ways by setting up his teammates and going after rebounds.
Mike Bibby
9 of 9@ Pistons, Jan. 7
PTS: 16
REB: 3
AST: 3
BLK: 0
STL: 0
This was Bibby’s best shooting game of the season. He got his 16 points on only 5 shots, since he was 4-4 from long distance. He was also 4-4 from the free-throw line during the game. The Knicks could really use this efficient shooting from Bibby off the bench more often.
