Derrick Rose Injury: Latest News and Updates on Chicago Bulls Star
Derrick Rose has been hampered by a toe injury recently, but he is expected to suit up Monday night vs. the Nets. He will will certainly have his hands full with Deron Williams. Considering how well Chicago has played this season, they could have let Rose rest again instead of taking on the lowly Nets, but it's good to see the Chicago warrior getting back on the court.
UPDATE: Monday, Jan. 23 at 6:34 p.m. EST
According to Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson, Rose will play tonight.

"Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose says his sprained left big toe might bother him the rest of the season," according to TSN's Staff.

K.C Johnson of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that Derrick Rose will return to the lineup against New Jersey Monday, but Bulls star Luol Deng will likely watch the game from the bench.
"While Derrick Rose is telling people he plans to play on Monday, the Bulls are leaning toward being conservative with Luol Deng.
Deng underwent an MRI on his sprained left wrist Sunday, results of which were not immediately available.
"
The Nets pose a great first game for Rose to return to. With the Pacers and the Bucks this week it should give the Bulls star a nice warmup leading into Sunday's content against the Miami Heat. Though Johnson does caution against believing Rose will be in the lineup until after the shoot around Monday.
Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose is dealing with a lingering toe injury that caused him to miss Monday's loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The point guard has been dealing with the issue for a full week now.
The Bulls offensive attack isn't nearly as potent without Rose leading the way, so it will be interesting to see how they handle the injury. Keep checking back to this page for the latest news on Rose's availability as Chicago tries to maintain its Eastern Conference lead.

According to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune, Derrick Rose will be out again tonight when the Bulls take on the Charlotte Bobcats.
The Bulls have managed to win their last couple games without Rose in the starting lineup. They crushed the Cleveland Cavaliers last night 114-75 with Rose sitting out. There is no need for Chicago to rush his return with the team playing well without him.
The Bulls are considered by many to be a lock in the playoffs. Why risk further injury to the team's best player?
Friday, Jan. 20 at 6:15 p.m. ET
According to Jason Floyd of the Akron Beacon Journal, Derrick Rose will not play Friday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This is a smart move by the Bulls. They cannot afford to have Rose's toe injury be a real problem when the playoffs arrive, so making sure he can take the time he needs to heal is important. Although the Cavaliers have played well this season, the Bulls are fully capable of beating them without Rose.
There's no need to force Rose to play when the toe is still bothering him a bit.
Friday, Jan. 20 at 10:18 a.m. ET
The good news for Bulls fans is that Rose's toe is starting to feel better, which means his return to the lineup isn't far away. The bad news is that he's only game-time decision for tonight's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.
The Bulls will likely beat the Cavs with or without their start point guard. That means they are probably better off getting him at least one more day of rest before getting him back into the lineup. They don't want to risk a more problematic injury.
Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. ET
The Bulls are not going to have Rose against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. Nick Friedell of ESPNChicago.com heard it from Rose himself:
Chicago's next game is on Friday at the Cleveland Cavaliers. By then, Rose will have had nearly a full week to rest his wounded toe.
Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 12:15 p.m. ET
K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports that Rose's playing status for tonight's game against the Phoenix Suns is unknown. He does note that the team is leaving the final decision to Rose as to whether he wants to give it a go or not.
"Rose has missed just eight games in three-plus seasons. He said Monday he has an "old-school mentality where I don't want to miss any games."
However, the Bulls have their first two-day break of the season since the opening week following Tuesday's game against the Suns. They play Friday in Cleveland. Sitting Rose against the Suns would afford him a five-day break between games.
"
While a five-day respite might not seem like a lot, it's like an eternity considering the NBA's condensed schedule. The Bulls should do whatever it takes to make sure Rose doesn't suffer a more serious injury that would cause him to miss an extended period of time.
