NBA Rumors: Orlando Magic Again Open for Dwight Howard Trade Business

Gabe ZaldivarJun 7, 2018

It didn't take long for the Dwight Howard lull to be lifted. Get ready to see the return of rumors surrounding the best big man in the NBA

Just because the Orlando Magic are mum on what they plan on doing with Dwight Howard doesn't mean that the question has at all been answered. Orlando is still taxed with the biggest conundrum of the year. To keep Superman, or not to keep Superman? That, my friends, is the ultimate in questions.

Chris Sheridan of Sheridan Hoops has some insight into the Magic and the latest to come from the biggest man to land on the trade market.

There are a couple of exciting tid bits to take from his report. First off, Howard is now open to the L.A. Clippers as a potential landing spot.

It seems unlikely that a team that is rolling right now would throw a wrench into the chemistry by bringing in Howard, but there is possibility there. DeAndre Jordan has emerged as a star center that the Magic may be content in taking back.

The second intriguing part of the report is the following:

"

Howard’s agent, Dan Fegan, already has been given permission to speak to the Nets, Mavericks and Lakers about possible trades.

"

The Magic had wrapped up business a couple of weeks ago and were determined to head into the season without the nuisance of constant trade banter.

It seems Orlando is now anxious to see where the market is ahead of the trade deadline. Sheridan cites a source close to the proceedings who believes that it is far more likely that Howard will see out his contract with Orlando.

The Nets are going nowhere in the standings and there is belief that Deron Williams could bolt after the season anyway.

Howard is not about to be stuck in New Jersey as the only bona fide star. The Lakers success makes it highly unlikely they are going to blow up the team, especially after the season Andrew Bynum has had.

The Lakers center is averaging 16.4 points and 13.8 rebounds per game. The Magic may be loosening up on trade discussions, but they may be too late to the party.

There is no longer that one team that would seem like a perfect destination at this point in the season. The Magic chose to gamble that Howard would stay in Orlando and they will have to live with that wager.
