Knicks vs. Thunder: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Spread Info and More

Nicholas GossJun 7, 2018

The Oklahoma City Thunder host the New York Knicks on Saturday night as they look to continue their tremendous start to the season.

The Thunder have the best record in the NBA at 10-2 thus far, and have been dominating at both ends of the floor.

Superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook lead basketball's fifth highest scoring offense, and on defense, center Kendrick Perkins and power forward Serge Ibaka have formed an intimidating duo in the paint.

The Knicks, on the other hand, have struggled this season and have failed to live up to expectations. At 6-5 they are second in the Atlantic division, but injury concerns surrounding star forward Carmelo Anthony are a real issue.

Nothing would get New York headed in the right direction more than an awesome road win against an elite NBA team.

Let's look at a complete preview for this exciting matchup between two high-scoring teams!

Where: Chesapeake Energy Arena, Oklahoma City, OK

When: Saturday, Jan. 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET

Watch: FSOKHD

Live Stream: NBA League Pass

Listen: 98.1 FM for OKC, 1050 AM for NY

Betting Line: Oklahoma City -11 (according to Betonline.com)

Key Injuries

Knicks forward Jared Jeffries is questionable for Saturday's game with a calf injury.

Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is out of Saturday's game with an ankle injury.

Thunder guard Eric Maynor is out for the season with a knee injury.

What's at stake?

For the Knicks, a win would be huge for their confidence going forward. At 6-5, they need to start winning games, with the Boston Celtics struggling and the Philadelphia 76ers surging in the Atlantic division. A win would also prove they can win without the offensive talents of Carmelo Anthony against a top team like the Thunder.

For the Thunder, a win would keep them at the top of the Western Conference with the best record in the NBA. Earning home-court advantage in the playoffs is huge for the Thunder, and every win counts, especially in a shortened 66-game schedule.

What They're Saying

Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman tweeted about the Knicks' poor field-goal percentage this season.

Player to watch for the Thunder: Kevin Durant

Thunder forward Kevin Durant is the best player in the NBA and one of the best scorers in the league. He has led the NBA in scoring the past two seasons, and is averaging 25.7 points per game this year.

In the Thunder's last game against the Hornets, Durant pulled down 10 rebounds to go with his 29 points. Durant is one player you would pay to see play every day of the week. He is as exciting as they come.

Player to watch for the Knicks: Amar'e Stoudemire

With Carmelo Anthony out of Saturday's game against the Thunder, Knicks power forward Amar'e Stoudemire needs to pick up the slack from a scoring perspective.

Stoudemire struggled in the first week, but he has improved his play and is averaging 19.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season.

He has to be effective at both ends of the floor for the Knicks on Saturday.

Key Matchup: Point guard battle

The positional battle that could decide this game is at point guard. Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is one of the best players in the game, and can score and rebound as well as any NBA guard.

Knicks point guard Toney Douglas must contain Westbrook as best as he can, or the Thunder star will dominate the game and lead OKC to victory.

How should Douglas defend Westbrook? He needs to be physical with the Thunder guard and contest every shot he takes.

Prediction: Thunder win 103-95

The Thunder have too much firepower for the Knicks to stop in this game, and New York has no one who can effectively cover Kevin Durant, who will have a monster game.

Without Anthony, the Knicks don't have a reliable scorer who can help them climb out of a big deficit. Douglas' matchup with Westbrook is a bad one for the Knicks, who will be killed in transition against the athletic Thunder guards.
