Denver Broncos: "Blue and Orange" Fan Video Borrows from Pittsburgh Steelers

Marco CummingsJun 7, 2018

In September of 2010, hip-hop artist and Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa released his hit single “Black and Yellow” to pay homage to his hometown.

The song shares its title with the official colors of the city of Pittsburgh as well as the colors of various professional sports teams in the city, including the Pirates, the Penguins and of course the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even the infamous “Terrible Towel” was prominently featured in the music video for “Black and Yellow.”

The video became so popular that it hit the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and became an unofficial anthem for the team in last year’s Super Bowl run. Khalifa was eventually invited to perform the song live at halftime during last year’s AFC Championship hosted in Pittsburgh, and his career has blossomed ever since.

Shortly before the Super Bowl, fellow rapper Lil Wayne released his own single dissing the Steelers and supporting the Green Bay Packers, entitled “Green and Yellow.” Wayne, an occasional analyst for ESPN, proved his sports insight when the Packers defeated the Steelers in last year’s Super Bowl by a score of 31-25.

In recent events, the Pittsburgh Steelers season has been ended once again in the 2011 NFL Playoffs, and this time it was to the tune of the Denver Broncos.

This has prompted yet another “Black and Yellow” remix, this time tailored to fans of the Denver Broncos. The video is entitled—you guessed it—“Blue and Orange,” and although this amateurish video may not be winning a Grammy anytime soon, it is sure to get Denver fans hyped up for the next game against the New England Patriots.

It may not be professionally mixed, but it certainly is catchy—if not kitschy—and I could see myself listening to it on MP3 in my car this week...
