2025 NFL Draft: Updated Scouting Notes and Pro Player Comparisons After CFB Week 13

Nov 27, 2024

As the 2024 college football season enters the home stretch, the 2025 NFL draft becomes increasingly intriguing. Week 13 featured a few standout performances, offering NFL organizations insight into how top prospects are developing in real time.

Many players who entered the season with hype have begun to confirm evaluations, while under-the-radar names are rapidly climbing draft boards.

It's the time of the year when breakout stars emerge, and Week 13 gave us no shortage of talking points.

Here, we'll dive into updated scouting notes on several key prospects. We'll also offer pro-player comparisons beyond simplistic height/weight/length similarities to give you an idea of how each prospect's tools and traits could translate to the NFL. We'll also name a few other standouts from around the country.

Devin Neal, RB, Kansas

Reminds Me Of: Jerome Ford

Week 13 Stats: 37 carries, 207 yards, 3 rushing TDs, 4 catches, 80 receiving yards, 1 TD vs. Colorado

Another name to know in what projects to be a historic pool of talent at RB, Devin Neal was sensational against the then-16th-ranked Buffaloes.

Built nearly like a carbon copy of Ford, who has carved out a role for himself with the Cleveland Browns, his elusive build allows him to create both inside and outside the tackles, and he's a threat to take it the distance as a pass-catcher.

Neal is looking to become the first Kansas running back drafted since 1997, when both Ronnie Ward (Dolphins) and June Henley (Chiefs) heard their names called.

Potential NFL Fits: Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys

Ashton Gillotte, EDGE, Louisville

Reminds Me Of: Dawuane Smoot

Week 13 Stats: 7 pressures, 3 hurries, 3 run stops, 2 sacks vs. Pittsburgh

As the weeks progress, Ashton Gillotte has continued to showcase why his name deserves to rank among the elite defenders in the upcoming class.

While Gillotte remains an interesting case study—he's too small to play every down on the interior yet too big and lacks the explosiveness of every-down edge players—his ability to slide up and down the defensive front has painted an intriguing prospect profile. Additionally, Gillotte has accumulated 28 pressures over the last month of the season.

Similar to Smoot, Gillotte has proven production in a variety of alignments, with zero worries on early downs and an ever-improving pass-rush repertoire on third down. Primarily aligned at 5-technique (outside the shoulder of the tackle), Gillotte also has snaps head-up at 4i and inside at 3-technique.

There arguably hasn't been a better pass-rusher in the country over the last four weeks.

Potential NFL Fits: Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, Cincinnati Bengals

Pat Bryant, WR, Illinois

Reminds Me Of: Michael Pittman

Week 13 Stats: 7 receptions (12 targets), 197 yards, 1 TD vs. Rutgers

The only player in the country with three game-winning touchdowns in the final two minutes (or OT) this season, Bryant also enters Week 14 atop the Big Ten in TD catches (9).

A four-year contributor for the Illini, Bryant, an imposing physical target at 6'3", has remained the hefty straw that stirs the drink for Illinois' aerial attack.

Like Pittman, Bryant has the size and body control to overpower smaller defenders in tight windows, with the nuance and vertical speed to press secondaries over the top. He's also highly competitive as a blocker in the ground game, showcasing a full array of tools and traits that could make his transition to the next level a seamless one.

Potential NFL Fits: Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals

Reminds Me Of: Ameer Abdullah

Week 13 Stats: 28 carries, 130 yards, 3 TDs vs. Texas A&M

Another name to know in what projects to be a historic pool of talent at RB, Jarquez Hunter ran roughshod over an Aggie defense littered with NFL talent in Week 13.

While not the biggest, Hunter is a powerfully built ball-carrier who uses his natural low center of gravity to work through defenders both in traffic at the line of scrimmage and in the open field.

Built nearly like a carbon copy of Abdullah out of Nebraska nearly a decade ago, Hunter's elusive yet rocked-up build allows him to create both inside and outside the tackles, and he competes in pass pro despite his overall mass.

Hunter has now rushed for over 100 yards in three of the last four weeks in matchups against Kentucky (278), Louisiana-Monroe (102) and Texas A&M this past weekend.

Potential NFL Fits: Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings

Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame

Reminds Me Of: Joe Mixon

Week 13 Stats: 6 carries, 131 yards, 2 rushing TDs, 1 catch, 1 receiving TD vs. Army

Impact Play: 68-yard TD run to open the second half

A night in which Notre Dame celebrated the 'Four Horsemen' from yesteryear, Jeremiyah Love was a one-man show against Army.

While Love, a true sophomore, isn't draft-eligible until 2026, his explosiveness, athletic profile and vision at 6'0" and over 200 pounds are already elite.

Like Mixon, Love can run around, through, or over defenders (see picture above), forcing defenders to sit on their heels in open space. A nightmare to take down in isolated scenarios, who ran roughshod over what was the nation's top run defense, Love's 131 yards on just six carries showcased the level of pop he has with the ball in his hands.

He's a threat to take it the distance on every touch and is a headlining name to know moving forward as we work past next spring. Keep an eye on him as Notre Dame competes in the CFP in the coming weeks.
