The Rams have unsurprisingly jumped to the top of the rankings following their blockbuster trade. The maneuver, which sent Jared Verse and a trio of draft picks to Cleveland for Garrett, has positioned Los Angeles as the team to beat heading into the 2026 season.
Garrett is fresh off setting the single-season sack record, recording a whopping 23 in 2025. The 30-year-old earned his seventh Pro Bowl and fifth All-Pro nod and was named the Defensive Player of the Year for his herculean efforts.
While he racked up an immense number of individual accolades during his nine seasons in Cleveland, Garrett made it clear he desired a chance to compete for Super Bowls when he publicly requested a trade last offseason.
The Browns appeared to have assuaged Garrett and convinced him to stay for the long haul when the parties agreed to a record-setting contract extension last March, but the Rams still managed to spring the superstar edge rusher free from the downtrodden organization with a massive offer.
By accepting a deal for its best player, Cleveland punted on a chance to be competitive this season in exchange for more pieces to rebuild around. The move could help in the long run, but it sent the Browns spiraling to the bottom of the 2026 power rankings.
Garrett will lead a Rams defense that is brimming with star power. While the loss of a promising youngster in Verse—who accumulated 7.5 sacks during a sophomore 2025 campaign—stings slightly, the presence of a future Hall of Famer alongside the likes of Byron Young (12 sacks last year) and Kobie Turner (seven sacks in 2025) makes L.A. an unparalleled force in the defensive trenches.
With Garrett joining the same roster as Matt Stafford, the Rams will become the first team in league history to feature the reigning MVP on offense and reigning DPoY on the other side of the ball.
Given the caliber of talent across their lineup, the Rams clearly have what it takes to win it all next season. Bookmakers recognized and quickly accounted for the team's sizable power increase on Monday.
L.A. had already cemented itself as the betting favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook with +800 odds (meaning a return of $8 for every $1 wagered) following a trade for star cornerback Trent McDuffie earlier this offseason, but the club's lead over the rest of the field increased significantly after the Garrett trade news broke. The Rams now sit at +600, placing them well ahead of the Bills and Ravens—who are tied for the second-best odds at +1000—and the +1100 reigning champion Seahawks.

Like the Rams, the Patriots made a slight move up the power rankings following their own splashy June 1 move. The team had a WR1-sized hole after cutting ties with Stefon Diggs and found the perfect candidate to fill it with Brown.
The move, which cost New England a first-round pick in 2028 and the better of its two 2027 fifth-rounders, reunites Brown with Mike Vrabel—the head coach who was responsible for selecting the wideout in the second round of the 2019 draft during his tenure with the Titans. Brown excelled under Vrabel, earning the first of three career Pro Bowl nods in Tennessee.
Brown immediately becomes the top target in a deep Patriots receiving corps that also includes fellow newcomer Romeo Doubs and a pair of promising young pass-catchers in Kayshon Boutte and Kyle Williams. New England's brass unsurprisingly prioritized surrounding emerging star quarterback Drake Maye with more weapons after he finished runner-up in the league MVP race and took the Patriots to its first Super Bowl of the post-Tom Brady era in only his second season.
Brown had a down season in 2025, but still crossed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the fourth straight year and sixth time in seven total NFL seasons. While the Eagles have enough talent to replace him with in the passing game, his absence will be felt enough that it warrants dropping a spot in the power rankings.
The Patriots undoubtedly improved their roster and place in the power rankings by trading for Brown, but their Super Bowl odds notably didn't shorten in wake of the long-awaited move. The betting market already priced the transaction in following months of heavy speculation that the wideout would be heading to New England.
The Patriots remain +1600 to win it all at DraftKings, tying them with the Eagles for the sixth-best odds in the league.
These odds and power rankings are far from set in stone. Expect them to fluctuate slightly throughout the remainder of the offseason—potentially even drastically changing if more blockbuster trades break during the leadup to training camp.
