Mitchell Robinson Injury Updates, Rumors on NBA Finals Status Ahead of Knicks vs. Spurs G1
Details have started to emerge regarding Mitchell Robinson's mysterious hand injury ahead of the NBA Finals.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Robinson hurt his pinky finger "at his own home" ahead of the Finals.
"But how did this all happen during the Knicks' off week?" Charania said Tuesday on NBA Today. "The details are murky. What I can say, what I do know, is that Mitchell Robinson hurt himself at his own home."
Robinson, who suffered a broken right pinky finger, arrived at practice on Tuesday without anything on his right hand ahead of Wednesday's Game 1 of the NBA Finals at the San Antonio Spurs, per Jared Schwartz of the New York Post.
Speaking to reporters, head coach Mike Brown said he was unsure of Robinson's status for Game 1:
In 60 games (16 starts) this season, Robinson averaged 5.7 points on 72.3 percent shooting, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 19.6 minutes per contest.
His presence is crucial for the Knicks as they search for their first NBA title since 1973. He's the Knicks' lone big man off the bench in the rotation and has provided valuable minutes and moments for New York in the playoffs, which has featured the team going 12-2 with an 11-game winning streak.
Charania reported last Friday that Robinson plans to play in the NBA Finals with a brace on his right hand.
We'll find out Robinson's status soon enough with Game 1 of the NBA Finals occurring Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
