New A.J. Brown Rumors Reveal Rams' Concerns with Injury History During Eagles Trade Talks
The Los Angeles Rams were one of the teams rumored to have interest in A.J. Brown before the Philadelphia Eagles ultimately traded him to the New England Patriots on Monday evening.
But the Rams reportedly had concerns with Brown's injury history.
"They had gotten medicals. They weren't satisfied with what they saw, and that was sort of why they backed out," the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane said on unCovering the Birds. "So that explains why Brown's value on the market—partly I think explains why his value—wasn't what you thought it would be.

NFL blockbuster trade may be close
Brown, 28, missed six games due to injuries during his first three seasons with the Tennessee Titans, and six more in the past two seasons with the Eagles. He was not at his best in 2025 when he did play, failing to consistently make the sorts of plays and catches that made him one of the best receivers in the league during his first few years in Philly.
In total he secured 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns across 15 games, his least productive campaign with the Birds. While some of that was down to the bland and inconsistent offense under former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, Brown didn't appear to be at his best either.
He also clearly wasn't happy with his usage and the team's offense in general, with that angst becoming a season-long storyline. In that regard, Monday's trade wasn't much of a surprise.
The Patriots are certainly happy to have him, giving Drake Maye the sort of game-changing receiver he didn't have last season. Brown is going to see a lot of targets in 2026.
"There's a force to the way he plays the game..." New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels told reporters on Tuesday. "Maybe the closest thing I've seen is [Rob Gronkowski]. This is a big guy."
Oh, and as for the Rams? Well, not trading for Brown worked out just fine for them—they kept the draft capital it would've taken to acquire the veteran wideout and instead used it to land superstar edge-rusher Myles Garrett, who will make an already-solid defense one of the best in the league.
