Jake Paul Says He'll Earn $40M for Mike Tyson Fight; Trolls Boxing Legend at Presser
Ahead of his Nov. 15 fight on Netflix against heavyweight icon Mike Tyson, Jake Paul made an astronomical claim about what he will be earning from the event.
"I'm here to make $40 million and knock out a legend," Paul said during Sunday's press conference at Fanatics Fest in New York City.
Paul also trolled Mike Tyson by making disparaging comments about his native New York City:
Paul was in full promotional mode during Sunday's event, feeding into the boos from the New York City crowd and declaring that he would shock the world once again when he and Tyson meet in the ring. Tyson was more laid back as he answered questions from ESPN analyst Ryan Clark, who served as the moderator for the press conference. The former heavyweight champion even playfully shoved Paul during their faceoff.
When asked why he would agree to a fight against Paul despite their 30-year age difference, Tyson responded, "Because I can. Who else can do it but me? Who else is he gonna fight to make this happen? We just gotta listen to the fact, we got a YouTuber fighting the greatest fighter that has ever lived."
After the press conference, Paul posted on X that he's going to give Tyson "his end" when the two step in the ring in November:
Tyson and Paul were originally scheduled to face each other on July 20, but the 58-year-old was forced to withdraw from the fight due to an ulcer flare-up. Paul instead faced Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship star Mike Perry and won by sixth-round TKO to improve his professional record to 10-1.
The 27-year-old maintained that a fight against Tyson gets him closer to his ultimate goal of becoming a boxing champion. Despite the amount of people rooting against Paul, he has proven to draw a large audience to his events, and the November matchup will be no different.
