NFL Rumors: Tristan Wirfs Reports to Bucs Minicamp; Skipped OTAs amid Contract Talks
Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs reported to mandatory minicamp Tuesday.
Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reported Wirfs is not expected to participate in team activities, essentially making him a "hold-in." However, the Pro Bowler did report as a showing of good faith after missing the entire voluntary portion of offseason work.
Wirfs is set to make $18.2 million next season in the final year of his rookie contract. A Pro Bowler in each of the last three seasons, Wirfs is looking for a contract that would make him among the highest-paid offensive tackles in football.

The Buccaneers have spent heavily this offseason to retain talent, inking quarterback Baker Mayfield (three years, $100 million), cornerback Antoine Winfield Jr. (four years, $84.1 million) and wide receiver Mike Evans (two years, $41 million) to new long-term contracts. Wirfs is the last major name on the roster looking for a new deal.
"Me and Tristan have had plenty of conversations, and he's still working out and he's been here all offseason—so I'm comfortable with that," Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles told reporters last month.
There are currently eight offensive tackles earning at least $20 million per season. Wirfs will undoubtedly be looking to make it nine, and he could join Laremy Tunsil and Penei Sewell in seeking upwards of $25 million a year.
