Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux Eyes Michael Strahan's NFL Single-Season Sack Record
Nobody can accuse Kayvon Thibodeaux of setting the bar too low.
The New York Giants pass-rusher told reporters Thursday he is going for the single-season sack record of 22.5.
"We're just going to start this off, if you were wondering, I'm going for the record—so don't ask," he said jokingly. "Every year I'm here, I'm going for Michael Strahan's record."

Strahan is a Giants legend and a Hall of Famer with a Super Bowl, seven Pro Bowls and four First-Team All-Pro selections on his resume, so New York fans will surely be glad to hear Thibodeaux has No. 92 in his sights.
The record of 22.5 sacks came in 2001 when Strahan was the Defensive Player of the Year.
Thibodeaux wouldn't be the only modern-day player to reach that mark, as Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt tied it when he was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. The closest the Oregon product has come was this past season when he posted 11.5 sacks as a second-year player.
He often faced double teams even while tallying those sack numbers, but he may not have to worry about that as much during the upcoming campaign since the Giants traded for two-time Pro Bowler Brian Burns.
Burns, Thibodeaux and Dexter Lawrence is quite the trio along the defensive front, and opposing offenses will not be able to double all of them. That could lead to more sack opportunities for Thibodeaux as he pursues the record.
