NFL Playoff Predictions: Why Tim Tebow's Magic Run Will End

Andrew KulhaJun 7, 2018

Tim Tebow's "magical, mystical mystery tour" of winning in the NFL is about to come to a screeching halt against the Pittsburgh Steelers

Thanks for trying, Tim, see you next year.

To be very honest, the Denver Broncos don't even deserve to be in the playoffs this season, and if it weren't for the fact they were the best out of a bad division they wouldn't be.

Even that fact can be disputed, considering both San Diego and Oakland finished with the same 8-8 record, but the Broncos had the tie-breaker.

If the Chargers and Broncos squared off right now, give me the Bolts nine times out of 10.

Sure, give the Broncos credit for getting the tie-breakers, but even that is discredited by the fact they backed into the playoffs, losing their last three games.

If it weren't for the severe ineptitude of the rest of their division they wouldn't be where they are.

Excuse me if I can't put my faith in this team.

Combine that with the fact Denver's quarterback has a severe disadvantage throwing the ball—mainly because he can't—and I see zero way that this team can beat the Steelers in the first round of the playoffs.

Tebow isn't a quarterback, and if he's going to become one it certainly won't be in time for the playoffs.

I don't disagree that given time and support he may be able to develop into something that resembles a NFL quarterback, but right now a 46.5 completion rating on 271 attempts with 12 touchdowns, six interceptions and five fumbles isn't going to cut it.

Spare me the nonsense about Denver having a stellar running attack and using it to beat the Steelers.

It's not going to matter against Pittsburgh.

Consider that the Steelers are the best team in the NFL at stopping the passing attack, only giving up 171.9 passing yards per game.

Now consider the fact the Broncos are second worst in the league passing the ball, averaging 152.1 yards per game.

Essentially that means the Broncos will not have a passing game this weekend.

All the Steelers have to do is load up the box and concentrate on stopping the run game, and the rest should take care of itself.

The edge goes to the Steelers in that category.

If you're holding on to the Broncos defense as your crucible of truth for this game, I would abandon that hope as well.

When playing what many consider to be great-to-elite quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Tom Brady, the Broncos gave up a combined 596 yards and five touchdowns.

These were games with Tebow under center. These were games Denver lost to the tune of 86-33 combined.

Ben Roethlisberger may not be Tom Brady, but he does have two Super Bowls under his belt, and he did notch 4,077 yards and 21 touchdowns on the season.

I dare say he will be able to move the ball and score the rock, and with Tebow under center, this Broncos team has no chance of keeping up.

There was a song that came out paying homage to the phrase regarding Tebow that was made "famous" by ESPN's Skip Bayless: "All He Does Is Win."

Well, it hasn't looked like that the past few weeks, and I don't see that changing.

Against the Steelers in the playoffs, all Tebow will do is lose.
