NBA Rumors: Stephen Curry's Problematic Ankle Will Sink Warriors' Season
Stephen Curry rolled his right ankle again last night in a loss to the San Antonio Spurs according to Marcus Thompson of The Oakland Tribune.
In a season that has been only six games long for the Golden State Warriors, this is the third time the star young guard has injured that same problematic ankle.
He needs to sit down on the bench and let this thing heal before coming back and risking further aggravation to it.
It’s obviously damaging to his body as well as his team and mind to continually be out there and getting hurt.
When asked about what happened, Curry said,
"“Just another re-aggravation of the same thing that’s been happening. … Just another frustrating incident I’ve got to deal with. … Just déjà vu all over again for me.”
"
When the young Davidson product talks about déjà vu, he’s referencing the multiple times he sprained the same ankle last season as well. It’s got to be weighing heavily on him that it’s still weak after surgery in the offseason to repair two torn ligaments.
He’s been making every attempt to get it stronger including intense rehabilitation and a visit to Nike for research and development of a shoe to prevent further ankle ailments.
However, he has only sat out for four days thus far this season to allow it time to heal and rushing back to the court obviously isn’t the right answer.
Curry must take a seat for however long it takes to get it properly healed, rehabilitated and steps are taken to prevent the ankle from rolling again without contact.
The young man has too bright of a future to risk it this early in his career. The Warriors can afford to hurt this season if it means Curry will be a star for the rest of his time in the Bay Area.
