Anthony Edwards Talks Epic John Collins Dunk Highlight: 'I Always Dreamed of' That
On a night when he scored 32 points in the Minnesota Timberwolves' 114-104 win over the Utah Jazz, Anthony Edwards' dunk over John Collins is all that anyone is going to remember.
The play occurred midway through the third quarter on a break when Edwards took a pass from Nickeil Alexander-Walker, left his feet from just inside the free-throw line and elevated over Collins for the slam.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Edwards called the dunk a dream-come-true moment in his career.
"It gives me chills, man, because I always dreamed of dunking on somebody like that," he said.
While the end result was something special, Edwards did admit he wasn't sure if he was going to get to the rim when he left his feet.
"I was thinking I was going to miss it because I wasn't close to the rim, but somehow God willed it in for me," the Timberwolves star explained.
Edwards' play did come at a cost to both himself and Collins. Edwards suffered a dislocated finger, while Collins left with a head contusion. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium noted the Jazz forward did not suffer a concussion.
The dunk helped spark Minnesota's second-half surge to extend its winning streak to three consecutive games. The T-Wolves are still without Karl Anthony-Towns due to a knee injury and played Monday night minus Rudy Gobert due to a sprained rib.
Edwards had 25 points, six rebounds and six assists in the second half. The Timberwolves scored 61 points over the final two quarters to secure the win and remain one game back in the loss column of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
