DeVante Parker to Be Released by Patriots Amid 2024 NFL Free Agency
There is reportedly another wide receiver available for teams looking for help at the position via free agency.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots told DeVante Parker they decided to release him Wednesday and allowed him to negotiate with other teams.
Parker spent the past two seasons in New England but was unable to replicate some of his success from earlier in his career when he played for the Miami Dolphins.

He tallied 33 catches for 394 yards and zero touchdowns in 2023 after posting 31 catches for 539 yards and three touchdowns in 2022. He played 13 games in each of those seasons for a Patriots team that missed the playoffs and went a combined 12-22.
Miami selected the Louisville product with the No. 14 overall pick of the 2015 NFL draft, and he was at his best in 2019 with 72 catches for 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns. It was the only time in his career he finished a season with more than 793 receiving yards, underscoring some of his inconsistency.
Still, Parker is just 31 years old and could generate some interest in free agency.
It will also help him that this is a relatively weak free agency class for wide receivers. There aren't a lot of franchise-changing options, and teams could be looking for secondary pieces on favorable contracts.
Parker is someone who can be just that for a team looking for veteran depth now that New England decided to move on from him.
