Bills Rumors: Von Miller Agrees to Restructured Contract; Saves Over $8M in Cap Space

Scott PolacekMar 6, 2024

The Buffalo Bills' busy Wednesday reportedly continued when they agreed to a renegotiated contract with pass-rusher Von Miller.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the two sides agreed to a deal with a base value of $8.855 million for the 2024 campaign. While Miller can make up to $20 million with incentives (compared to $17.5 million under the previous terms), the move saved the team $8.645 million in 2024 cap space.

The move with Miller comes after Buffalo announced it released safety Jordan Poyer, defensive back Siran Neal, center Mitch Morse, wide receiver Deonte Harty and running back Nyheim Hines while signing offensive lineman David Edwards and punter Matt Haack.

ESPN's Adam Schefter also reported the team will release cornerback Tre'Davious White to free up $10.2 million in cap space after June 1 in addition to the approximately $25.96 million in cap space it created with the other moves.

The Bills were $40 million over the cap at the start of the day Wednesday, so they made significant progress toward getting under that number.

As for Miller, the restructured contract comes after a 2023 season to forget.

He didn't make his debut until Oct. 8 after starting the season on the physically unable to perform list and failed to register a single sack throughout the entire campaign. He didn't look like the same player that he was before he tore his ACL during the 2022 season.

It was a far cry from when Miller was one of the best pass-rushers in the league as an eight-time Pro Bowler, two-time Super Bowl champion and three-time first-team All-Pro selection with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams.

Miller fell down the Bills' depth chart and wasn't much of a contributor by season's end. He finished the year with three total tackles.

He will look to return to form in 2024, although he will do so on a modified contract.
