NFL Rumors: 'Long Believed' Bill Belichick Wants to Be Giants HC After Patriots Exit
If Bill Belichick remains without a team this offseason and has to wait to get back into coaching until 2025, don't rule out the New York Giants.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, "it's been long believed he would love to go back to the place where he won a pair of Super Bowls as defensive coordinator, and because the team took a nosedive in 2023 after a playoff berth in 2022."
Belichick served as the defensive coordinator for the Giants under the legendary Bill Parcells during the 1985-90 seasons and was a member of the coaching staff between 1979-90. He went on to serve as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns (1991-95) and most famously the new England Patriots (2000-23), where he won six titles.

As for the Giants, another disappointing season in the Big Apple could spell doom for current head coach Brian Daboll. After making the playoffs in his first season in 2022, the Giants were a disastrous 6-11 last year, burying themselves after a 2-8 start.
Whether Belichick wants to get back into coaching after a potential season off remains to be seen. He's 71, after all, and retirement has its perks. But the Giants would be a logical match if they have a vacancy and he still has the coaching itch.
