10 Things Ndamukong Suh Is Angry About
Ndamukong Suh is one angry man on the field. The Detroit Lions' defensive tackle seems to have a bit of a mean streak in him. After all, wouldn't you if no one knows how to pronounce your name properly?
The Detroit Lions got their enraged big man back last week against the Green Bay Packers and are hoping he can relieve some stress by hitting Drew Brees a few times.
Suh is an interesting cat. He's well respected off the field for his articulate manner. On the field he has created some controversy, and this was before the infamous Thanksgiving Day stomp.
He seems to be a bit childish at times on the field yet possesses wisdom beyond his years off the field. Where does this come from?
Well, it's pretty simple. He has a laundry list of things he's still upset about that he'll use as fuel in the playoffs.
Didn't Get Dance Dance Revolution for Christmas
1 of 10During the NFL lockout, the defensive tackle posted a video with one of his touchdown dances to the hip tunes of Katy Perry.
Ndamukong Suh specifically asked Santa for a Dance Dance Revolution set so he could practice his moves for the playoffs. Santa had other ideas...
I don't think we'll see him on "Dancing With The Stars" anytime soon.
Getting Coal for Christmas
2 of 10Like most of us, Saint Nicholas (aka Santa Claus) sits around on Thanksgiving Day stuffing his face with copious amounts of food and watches football.
Santa frequents Wisconsin and loves their cheese and was not too fond of the stomping act performed by Mr. Ndamukong Suh.
Suh received a heaping pile of coal for Christmas. His stockings were stuffed to the brim with the messy stuff and it did not sit well with the large defensive tackle.
Letting Matt Flynn Torch the Detroit Defense
3 of 10It's pretty easy to understand his frustration on this one. You think that with Aaron Rodgers being pulled from the game and sporting sweatpants that you could have a go at the backup quarterback and not be worried about an offensive explosion.
Wrong.
Matt Flynn did his best impression of Aaron Rodgers and was so good that he might have earned himself a starting job in 2012 away from Green Bay. Flynn can thank the Detroit Lions and their defense for being non-threatening.
Ndamukong Suh did manage to sack Flynn once, but that doesn't erase the six touchdowns he threw. This one could linger for awhile.
Facing Drew Brees
4 of 10I'm sure if you were to ask the Detroit Lions who they would rather face, the New Orleans Saints or New York Giants, they would likely tell you it wouldn't matter because they have proper media training. But deep down, they do not want to face the New Orleans Saints.
The Giants are a better matchup across the board for the Lions. Their offense would be able to take the Giants' defense to task and the New York offense is not averaging close to 500 yards per game.
Playing the man who will either be MVP or MVP-1A is not fun. Add in the fact that he broke a passing record from the 1980's and his team is undefeated at home, and you have plenty of reasons to be hating life.
But hey, the Lions are in the playoffs! That should count for something, right?
Omaha Steaks Commercial
5 of 10Ndamukong Suh attended the University of Nebraska prior to his current place in Detroit. Naturally, his ties with Nebraska made Suh the perfect pick for Omaha Steaks to choose as their official "tailgate spokesman."
Go ahead and watch the ad at the top of the screen, but before you do, let me paint a picture for you.
You are 6'4" and 307 pounds. You get paid to throw other 300-pound men out of the way and hit people as hard as you possibly can.
Then Omaha Steaks ask you to dress up in a lame jersey, a racing crewman getup and a penguin suit. They sure didn't put much effort in his delivery skills.
I'm getting upset thinking about why his agent would let this ad get OK'd.
Not Getting a Kiss on New Year's Eve
6 of 10The Detroit Lions traveled to play the Green Bay Packers on New Years Day, which means the Lions spent the New Year in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Isn't spending New Year's Eve in Green Bay on your bucket list?
Yea, it's not on mine either. Nor was it on Ndamukong Suh's list.
Rather than living up New Year's Eve, Suh probably had a nice dinner with his teammates and sipped on champagne without being comfortably surrounded by Wisconsin's finest co-eds.
Dealing with Detroit Radio Hosts
7 of 10In December, Ndamukong Suh went on the radio program "Valenti and Foster" to answer some questions about his return from suspension.
The radio hosts asked Suh question for seven minutes before becoming frustrated and telling Suh "they're not getting a whole lot."
You can listen to the interview and make your own judgment, but in the eyes of Suh, they continued to beat a dead horse. After complaining that their questions didn't get a satisfying answer, the hosts went at Suh directly. Suh swiftly decided the interview was over.
Dealing with smug local radio jockeys that think they're entitled to an answer has to get under your skin a bit.
Chrysler Not Lending Suh a Car
8 of 10After the infamous stomp, Ndamukong Suh was suspended and decided to fly out to Portland, Oregon where he went to high school.
Suh was riding with some friends when he lost control and crashed a 1970 Chevrolet Coupe. "The car hit a curb, light pole, drinking fountain and tree."
Pure speculation here, but Suh probably called his contact at Chrysler's headquarters and asked to be hooked up with one of their cars during the rest of his time in Portland.
The Chrysler executive promptly responded with, "Ha! We don't mind if you crash a Chevrolet, but you're not crashing a Chrysler. Get a cab."
Getting Snubbed from the Pro Bowl
9 of 10Ndamukong Suh didn't get offered a plane ticket to Hawaii in February. Suh commented this past week explaining "(It) just wasn’t my year."
You can say what you want about his reasoning, but behind closed doors he probably thinks he deserves to be there.
Getting blacklisted from the Pro Bowl could have rubbed Suh the wrong way. Although, adding an extra chip on his shoulder might not be the worst thing in the world for the Detroit Lions.
People Still Can't Spell or Pronounce His Name Correctly
10 of 10Ask anyone who is not a football fan to pronounce Ndamukong Suh and you will get a myriad of pronunciations. Ask anyone to spell Ndamukong without seeing its spelling previously and you'd get "Ndahmukung" or "Nadumkong" or some type of other variation.
For example, I had to copy Ndamukong and paste it every time I needed to to prevent spelling errors.
It's not hard to explain why Suh is an articulate man during his personal life. Learning how to spell your own name and write it in cursive at a young age will easily spark your young intellectual development.
Now, if only the rest of America could get it right.
