NFL Rumors: Titans Open to Derrick Henry, DeAndre Hopkins Trade If 'Exceptional' Deal
The Tennessee Titans may not be actively looking to move Derrick Henry, but they've reportedly not ruled out trading their star running back.
Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported the Titans are open to trading "most players" on their roster as they look to sell ahead of the 2023 deadline. Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported the Titans won't move Henry or wideout DeAndre Hopkins unless they receive an "exceptional" offer.
Russini added the Dallas Cowboys "never called about acquiring Henry."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Jay Glazer said on Fox NFL Sunday that other teams are in talks with the Titans on Henry and any other information is a ploy:
"Tennessee told him, 'look we don't intend to trade you.' But I think what happened there is they didn't get the type of compensation they like so they went back, almost as a ploy and say we're going back, tell them we're not going to trade you, hoping that somebody hears that and kind of blinks on that and offers up a bit more.
"I've had at least one team tell me last night, I know what they're saying about Derrick Henry but we're still in talks with them. We're going to keep trying this."
The Titans have reportedly set a high price on Henry, who is in the final year of his contract. Tennessee's asking price, along with Henry's $10.5 million base salary, create a scenario where a team will likely have to be desperate in order to make a move by Tuesday. It would likely take a significant injury in Week 8 in order for Henry to be moved.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Henry has rushed for 425 yards and three touchdowns this season. He's on pace for his fifth career 1,000-yard rushing season.
While not quite the same back he was during his 2,000-yard campaign in 2020, Henry's 4.3 yards per carry average in 2023 is right in line with the last two seasons. The Titans have looked to lighten his workload a bit by giving rookie Tyjae Spears plenty of snaps, but Henry remains the fulcrum of the Tennessee offense.
Assuming Henry does not get moved, he could still be playing his final games as a Titan. Spears has looked strong in spell of Henry and will make just $5.5 million over the course of his four-year rookie contract. The Titans will likely look to make him the bellcow back in 2024, with Henry exiting in free agency.
Hopkins signed a two-year, $26 million contract with the Titans during the offseason. Even though he's not been spectacular through his first six games in Tennessee, he's by far the team's best pass catcher and will have value next season. It's not a surprise the team will look to hold onto him.
