NFL Rumors: Bears' Justin Fields 'Determined' to Return from Thumb Injury for Week 9
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields will likely miss his second consecutive game due to a dislocated thumb, but he could be back on the field for their Week 9 game against the New Orleans Saints.
Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Fields is "determined" to play on Nov. 5 with one person saying he's "working toward that" goal.
Fields suffered a dislocated thumb in the third quarter of Chicago's 19-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 15.

The Bears quickly ruled Fields out for their Week 6 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, with head coach Matt Eberflus telling reporters on Oct. 16 that there is "no timetable right now" for the 24-year-old to play.
"It's really going to come down to grip strength," Eberflus explained. "There's natural swelling that occurs with this injury, so we should know more at the end of this week."
The Bears have yet to release an official injury report for this week, but Eberflus said Monday Fields is doubtful while expressing optimism he will be able to avoid surgery and a stint on injured reserve that would keep him out at least four games.
If Fields is held out for Week 8, Tyson Bagent will make his second consecutive start. The undrafted rookie went 21-of-29 for 162 yards and one touchdown in a 30-12 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
Fields was playing well prior to suffering the injury with 617 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception total in Weeks 4 and 5. He threw for 526 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions in the first three games.
The Bears have won two of their last three games after an 0-4 start to the season. They will play the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Sunday Night Football this week.
