3 Players Jets Must Consider Trading for at 2023 NFL Deadline
The New York Jets fared better than anyone expected after the Aaron Rodgers injury.
The Jets enter Week 8 with a 3-3 record and they are squarely in the AFC playoff conversation.
Robert Saleh's team is only a half-game behind the Buffalo Bills for the final wild-card position. The AFC East title is not totally out of reach either with the Miami Dolphins sitting at 5-2.
New York's position in the standings should trigger some phone calls across the NFL for potential improvements at the trade deadline.
The Jets could use one more star wide receiver to partner Garrett Wilson in an offense that looked good in the upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago.
New York may opt to reinforce its defense in an attempt to take pressure off Zach Wilson.
There are a handful of star edge-rushers on the trade market, and the addition of one of them could make the Jets a more viable playoff candidate.
Hunter Renfrow

The Jets probably will not go after the biggest names on the wide receiver trade market.
Jerry Jeudy comes with an extra year on his contract that the Jets may not be willing to pay and the cost for DeAndre Hopkins may be too high.
Instead, the Jets should set their sights on a possession-based receiver who can complement Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard.
Wilson and Lazard are the only Jets wide receivers with more than 100 receiving yards. Tyler Conklin is the only other wide out or tight end above that mark.
Hunter Renfrow has not had a great start to the season with the Las Vegas Raiders, but that might have to do more with him being out of favor with Josh McDaniels than anything.
Renfrow is still capable of working the middle of the field to come up with some big third-down and red-zone catches.
The Jets could use that element in their offense, and it could be a major help to Zach Wilson as he tries to navigate certain in-game situations.
Adding a depth piece, like Renfrow, for a cheap price of a late-round draft pick should intrigue the Jets as they try to remain competitive in the playoff hunt.
Antonio Gibson

The Dalvin Cook signing has not worked out as well as the Jets would have hoped.
Cook has 109 rushing yards on 39 carries and nine receptions for 46 yards.
The Jets can't have inefficiency at running back if they want to make a push up the standings.
Antonio Gibson is an intriguing trade option because he fits what the Jets need.
New York needs a pass-catching complement to Breece Hall. Gibson has been just that for Brian Robinson with the Washington Commanders.
Washington started to give Chris Rodriguez more snaps at running back, and if it focuses more on developing young players, Gibson's playing time will decrease.
Gibson is a free agent at the end of the season, so the Jets could use him as a rental to provide more stability behind Hall.
The Jets may end up swapping Cook for Gibson through the trade market. Other contenders could be interested in Cook and that might allow the Jets to add quality by offloading one player and bringing in another.
Denico Autry

All potential contenders should make a call to the Tennessee Titans in the next week.
The Titans appear ready to sell off their best veteran players. They started that process with a deal that sent Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Denico Autry could provide some pass-rushing depth to the Jets. He has four sacks and 20 tackles this season for the Titans.
The Jets only have one defensive lineman with multiple sacks through six games. They have some solid pieces on the interior, but no dominant rusher to the quarterback.
Autry can add some bite to the Jets pass rush. That could lead to the defense being on the field less in certain contests.
Any additions over the next week will help the Jets because they have a winnable stretch of three games against the New York Giants, Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders ahead in which they can bolster their playoff stock.
