49ers' Christian McCaffrey Reportedly Will Play vs. Vikings Amid Oblique Injury
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey will play Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The two-time Pro Bowler was forced to exit San Francisco's Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns due to an oblique injury. Fortunately for he and the Niners, he avoided a more serious issue that would automatically rule him out moving forward.
NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reported McCaffrey's injury was "more of a pain-tolerance thing." Schefter followed up to report the veteran ball-carrier was trending toward suiting up in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Assuming his season isn't further derailed by injuries, McCaffrey is potentially on his way to winning Offensive Player of the Year. Through six games, he has run for 553 yards and caught 23 passes for 177 yards with nine total touchdowns.
This is the kind of production fans envisioned from the 27-year-old once he got fully integrated into a Kyle Shanahan-led offense.
McCaffrey's importance to the offense goes without saying. His usage has dwarfed that of the team's next-highest rusher (Jordan Mason, 117 yards), and Eljah Mitchell has battled through injuries of his own that have limited his effectiveness (2.7 yards per carry).
Shanahan is no stranger to navigating around a depleted offense. Pretty much every notable Niners skill position star has been lost for some stretch since he took over in 2017.
Because of that, fans will maintain some belief any rushing attack sans McCaffrey will find a way to keep its head above water.
